Western Mediterranean Cruise - 14 nights. P&O Ventura from £709pp

Found 26th Mar 2013
Booked this couple weeks ago at £749 and thought it was a good deal. But now it is £40 cheaper.
Equivalent to about £50.64 per day!

This is for the getaway fee which is full payment upon booking. The £709 price is for an inside cabin (not like you need anything that much better unless you decide to lock yourself in the room the whole cruise ) And I believe the more people in the room, the cheaper it gets per person (max of 4, so the third and fourth person are cheaper).

4-18 May

7 Ports:
Cartagena - Spain
Barcelona - Spain
Cannes - France
Rome - Italy
Ajaccio - Corsica
Gibraltar - Gibraltar
La Coruna - Spain

About the ship:

Ventura is one of the largest cruise ships in the P&O Cruises fleet. Ventura is where you’ll find an incredible choice of facilities from bars, restaurants, a sports court, spa and theatre. Plus Ventura also has a number of exciting features that are exclusively hers.

Ventura’s signature restaurant is The White Room by none other than Marco Pierre White himself. But there are also 11 other restaurants to tempt you including a tapas bar and restaurant, a stunning Asian restaurant and a choice of Club Dining - the same table at the same time each evening, and Freedom Dining - no fixed seating or dining times.

Ventura is a highly entertaining cruise ship. A theatre with full production shows doubles as a cinema, she has two lounges for cabaret, tributes, comedy and dancing and even Metropolis, an amazing bar with a panoramic video wall brought to life by a different city skyline each evening. She also has great sports facilities, a well equipped gym and spa, a large sports court and 4 pools (one with a retractable roof).

In fact, a Ventura cruise is very family-friendly. In addition to fantastic children’s clubs and a play area for under 2s, Noddy and Mr. Bump from the Mr. Men Show are regular visitors. She even has a 24 hour buffet restaurant so the only routines you need to keep are your own.

Not sure why this is cold, great price for 14 nights on Ventura, it's a quality ship.

I think it's a great deal for 14 nights on a great ship ...don't know why it's cold either.

That's what I thought.
Been on Ventura went it first came out and it was a wonderful ship. Think they are doing a refit of the ship now I believe, so another bonus.

Great price great ship

One of many brilliant deals on the web site. Thanks very much as we're hoping to go on a P&O cruise later this year and I'd been looking for somewhere selling cheap and here it is on P&O's own web site!

You'd struggle to get a decent hotel for £50pppn and this is a complete, high class holiday.

The Getaway fairs are no frills and non-refundable etc but that needn't be a problem.

'High class'? Not with P&O, I'm afraid. (_;)

not been on a cruise before but have been looking at them - how much spending money would you need - drinks etc on board?

Well it's obviously not a Cunard ship but should be around 3 or 4 stars.

Well normally I register a card with them when I check in as its easier as they just take the money out at the end of the holiday like a direct debit or you can pay by cash at the end of the cruise.
How much money? Really depends if you're going to spend a lot. Around average bar prices for alcohol but they do have free tea and coffee, water, ice tea and other drinks depending on the ship, at the buffet which should normally open 24hrs

Three star, I'd say. The problem is that they've cut back quite a lot over the last few years, and the cuts are now really showing. The food's OK, but nothing like the standards they used to achieve. There used also to be several interesting speakers on board, but that's been cut back too.

Ventura's a nice ship, large (good for stability) and fairly new. Drinks prices are pretty good - much in line with UK bar prices. You'll never go hungry, either.

they are classier than 90% of all the other large cruise companies, i should know cos i've been with most of them and P&O rate No.1 in my opinion.

I suppose it's all relative, isn't it? Passengers thrown off at the next port for fighting in the bar, and a guy we saw wandering around in his vest didn't strike me as 'classy' though!

I agree entirely - no big deal. Not exactly 'classy', though, is it, which was my point. P&O used to be a bit upmarket, but you couldn't possibly call it that these days. Again, not a value judgment - just an observation.

We're in 2013 you know, not 1913.

I personnelly think these cruises are like holiday camps at sea. HMS Butins!

The Ventura is a great ship and I would holiday on her again in a heartbeat.
