Update 13.45pm - From 2pm today, we’re cutting the price of our unleaded by up to 2p per litre! Happy days! @ Morrisons

We've cut fuel prices! You’ll now pay no more than 109.7ppl for unleaded. Diesel remains 106.7ppl

This is the latest price reduction in the last month, when the price of fuel has dropped by 9p per litre on diesel and 5p per litre on unleaded.

Effective from today (21st August), Asda’s new national price cap means that unlike other retailers who work on ‘average prices’ our customers know they will pay no more than 109.7ppl on unleaded. Diesel remains at a market-leading national price cap of 106.7ppl.

I have struggled to spot an Asda with a fuel station in southeast Berkshire. .anyone seen one?

Good and should encourage Morrisons to drop theirs.

Yeah so why would two days ago pricing matter when the post says the change will be from today?

And for that one that's cheaper it says NO MORE than 109.7, not that it'll be that everywhere.

Love how they make out they're doing us a favour. Oil $46 a barrel, $1.56 to the pound. Yet price per litre 6p more on petrol than it was in January when oil was $45 a barrel and exchange rate of 1.5 or less!

You really need to address that question to amz321conr, but I presume it was to suggest that 2 days ago the diesel was already 5ppl lower in the Beckton store than this deal price.

But the evidence suggests otherwise...

From what I've read the base for all the fuel comes from the same refineries. There is minimum standards both in here and around the UK that the fuel has to conform to. So in essence all fuel should be fine for your car. However, different brands and lines of fuel have slightly different additives which can give extra MPG and lubrication etc to your engine. The likes of shell V-power and the likes is better fuel as it has higher octane levels, but you have to ask yourself is it worth the extra money for minimal to no benefits? Because it is most likely that you will so no difference. Long story short no fuel you can buy in the UK at pumps will harm your engine.

Thank you for posting the "Supermarket Fuel Is Poor Quality" comment of this petrol price post. Our local BP garage cashes in on this. Even though Asda and BP are only 1/4 of a mile apart. Yesterday happened to drive past both. Diesel at Asda is 107.7p at BP is 118.9p. For the same fuel that comes from the same refinery. I really don't blame BP for taking advantage of the people who think their fuel is any better.

Hope they start advertising when petrol price goes up too

Would not use supermarket fule even if it was 50.0ppl

Yep diesel still 107.7 in Cardiff gate asda! So you will pay more than 106.7 unless you complain!

If you stick their app. on your phone, it'll tell you where the nearest one with fuel is, and the current price. You could also search via their website

thanks all

OH ****** THIS DAY IS JUST GETTING MORE INSANE BY THE MINUTE!!!!

OIL DOWN TO $40.04!!!!

Should the price of petrol not be less than £1 in this country now, with the price of crude oil being so low?

There is no asda filling stations at the branches in Sutton or Kingston. Yet they've given the go-ahead to build a Sainsburys supermarket in Sutton, which would be about 500 metres away from Asda. In Sutton there's already a Morrisons (big branch near the top & a convenience branch down the bottom end), and a massive Asda store. But this is probably best left at that hey! This particular thread is about petrol prices!
Edited by: "aheetun2" 21st Aug 2015

Asda Hereford have recently submitted an application to build a petrol station at their site in town. I really hope they get granted permission!

if you have a modern car with high pressure/common rail/piezo injectors etc, you will most certainly realise that there is a difference between supermarket fuel and branded fuel.

My mk3 Mondeo ran dreadfully on supermarket fuel but normally on others.

Despite thier denials, there simply has to be some difference in lubricity etc.

The price you pay at the pump is based on the price the retailer has bought the fuel for off the market e.g.they may have have hedged a significant amount at $50bbl, so the price will not always drop as far as it should.

So asda tesco etc all have their own hukd accounts now?

how is this a deal? every day another fuel drop post... its not rocket science, notice who's chepaest in your area and go there. or check petrolprices dot com or whatever it's called if youre that bothered.
