These great little speakers are on a special offer again at Richer Sounds and also come with a 6 year warranty.

Here are the details:-

Speaker legends don't get much bigger than the Wharfedale Diamond 9.0.

It's hard to believe that the original Wharfedale Diamond is now past its thirtieth birthday. All those decades ago, it was the Diamond speaker that proved, for the first time, that excellent quality sound could be achieved from a small, budget speaker. Since then there have been dozens of imitators, but the Diamonds remain amongst the best available.

The cabinet isn't just compact, it's also very solid. This combination gives the Diamonds an extremely accurate sound quality as the cabinet doesn't flex or vibrate like larger, less well made speakers. Equally impressive are the drive units. A soft dome tweeter gives the clarity and smoothness of sound you'd expect from a much more expensive speaker whilst the woofer cone uses a carbon fibre type weave to offer extremely taut and responsive bass. With a front port, these bass reflex speakers are punchier than you might expect and in no way could they ever be described as tinny. Over all, they may be small but the sound is grown-up, with excellent staging, realism and surprisingly powerful.

It's not just the major aspects of the design that Wharfedale have got right, it's the details, too. Proper 4mm banana sockets will accept thick cable and offer the best type of connection. Threaded sockets at the rear make for secure and easy bracket attachment.

At £100 these speakers were clearly market leaders. Now we're offering them at this bargain price, the Diamond 9.0 speakers are a gem of a deal!

I'm an audionoob but how would you go about connecting these to a monitor with a standard 3.5mm jack?

Might be a really stupid question, but could these be used with a TV?

They are passive speakers so you'd need to run them through a powered amp.

Cheers. I'm looking for a soundbar or similar so thought something like this would suffice. Thanks for the reply.

They show as £59.95?

Don't waste your money on a soundbar because they are very over rated.
I bought a mid / top of the range Yamaha soundbar and in true honesty it sounded rubbish.
I am now using a set of Creative Gigaworks T40 speakers costing about £80 on my tv and believe me they wipe the floor with any soundbar I've ever heard.

Hi do the speakers connect to the TV ?

I forget the model but you can get some solid mini amps for around 20 quid via Amazon/eBay that would drive these.

With a to that is.

The Creative T40's have a built in amp and they simply plug into your tvs headphone socket.
This also has the advantage of being able to control the volume by the tvs remote control.
Check out the reviews on Amazon with many people commenting on the T40's ability to make the tv sound superb.
Obviously not a substitute for a proper 5.1 surround sound system but a massive improvement on the inbuilt speakers and indeed a sound bar costing a lot more.

I have the Diamond 9.1 speakers at the minute and I'm considering these to use them for surround. These obviously aren't going to have the depth, power and frequency response of their bigger brother but for a smaller room or like I'm considering rear speakers that's a great price.

Build quality is excellent and the woofer is kevlar weave.

Regardless of the blurb these aren't £100 speakers, you can get the 9.1's for that price. But £40 is a great price for the quality.

Hmm.. the Creative's do sound nice.. I'm currently contemplating getting a soundbar with a separate subwoofer (as I don't really have room for anything else).. so it's either that... or the Creative T40's...

Picked up a similar set of speakers from Argos a few years back. Hooked it up to my TV via a cheap 2020A+ amplifier. Cost me £35 in total, and sounds fantastic.

One might even call them a hot deal

I have this speakers in my bedroom powered by a Lepai 2020 amplifier which can be purchased on amazon for around £20. Buy the new Chromecast Audio for £30 and you have an incredible budget HiFi system. I couldnt be happier with mine

Depends on what you willing to pay, not all soundbars are equal and not all external TV speakers are soundbars - I have a Sony HT-XT3 soundbase under my TV and that will put many amps and speakers to shame, however it's RRP is £450 and street price rarely less than £380.

Lower of the prices RS sell these, usually around the £50-60 mark but never £100!

Own these, they are epic for the money

you cant, they need an amp.

For those wanting to connect these to a tv - may want to consider buying a used or new av receiver. Silly price for a pair of decent bookshelf speakers. You could buy a set of floor stands to place either side of tv or chimney breast.

Bought these last time they were at this price for front highs in a surround set up. Awesome for the price and wasted a bit for what I'm using them for.....HEAT!!!

So tempted to add these to my Diamond 9.1 set-up...

What's a best good AV receiver to go with these ?

Could anyone kindly forward me the email as I must have deleted it. I got the ones prior to this

I bought these for around the same price before (£50 but with a £10 VIP voucher). Have them on the windowsill in the kitchen connected to a Lepai amp, sounds pretty good for the money.

These make really good surround speakers for a home cinema setup.

Charming good day to you too

Will they work if connected to all in one Panasonic BluRay Surround sound system whose original speakers are just directly connected to it?

The diamond 9.0 are a great buy, especially at this price. I've been using a set as rears for about 6 years, with 9.4 and a 9 CS up front.

The 9.1 diamonds are vastly superior, if you shop around now and again you can get them at a bargain price

cracking pair of speakers that punch well above their weight in terms of detail/timing and dear I say bass levels for such small speakers...worth every single penny...RicherSounds have hit the right note with these speakers and for just £39.95 they should be music to everyone's ears.

Yes much better than a crappy soundbar or even worse, a bluetooth speaker. But remember to factor in some speaker stands. eBay is good for that.

Why, have you not got an Onkyo?
