surely the denon set for £149 would be a better buy?

Original Poster

excellent reviews for these speakers,if u can afford we bit more money its a best buy in my opinion .also denon set doesn't have a dedicated center speaker

Looking for something like this..if only it was in white!

A great deal for these speakers, even as refurbs.

Lol...

Better off with a refurb z5500.

Great speakers! I have them! Can't remember how much I paid for them though.

Better off with a refurb z5500.

Well it's not really the same thing is it. These need an AV receiver to make use of. Which has much more functionality then the PC system, Z5500.

I wonder what Mrs Sheen smells like after a right good buffing?

??? When you have no idea what the post is about, perhaps you should stay out of it?

I have these albeit just have them in a 3.1 system and they're excellent

Welllll lets see here captain ****. These speakers, refurbed for this price, still needing a decoder/amp to drive them. Or a THX certified set with built in amp and decoder. But no I'm sure you're right. Spend more for something within the same sound quality and still need an amp. Great buying advice there buddy. Top marks.

But that's the point. you're gonna spend the same money again on an amp to drive them. Might as well just get a used/refurb z5500. Most folks will just plug the toslink into the back of the tv and have it forward dd/dts/2ch lpcm

How do you know they sound the same? Have you had a demo of them with a handful of AV receivers?

I have big speaker Wharfedale Diamond 10.5 and they good for what I payed .

Now after changing speaker from sony to Wharfedale to Kef Etc What I can say

Sound is quality is vary from one person to other same with music one speaker will sound very good with this track other speaker not

You can spend 10 000 £ pound on your setup and it will not sound perfect to everyone as everyone have different taste of music and different sensitivity to sound

Anyway my story that i have big speaker and they sound good for everything Change to bookshelf speaker and they do not sound same musical as big ones "you can do job with small speaker" Than later I change to home theater speakers more smaller They sound ok for movies but for musical sound not the same as big ones

So now my next change after recon 5 Years will be Sound bar Why because it takes less space . And im not anymore big sound lover . As other people live in the house as well ...........

My advice just get good sound bar It is looks good & no cables problems

With the sound bar you you get AMP as well where with speaker package you need to buy

Incognitoso

I don't know. I've heard sound bars, and they don't compare. Unless you're talking about spending a lot on one. You're stuck with a very narrow stereo image, in most cases, and it's not surround sound so there's that. The cable thing is just one of those things. It's just a single cable (together) for each speaker so I don't find it's a big deal.

Oh ffs stupid mobile site with edit and delete too close together. What **** designed that?

Anyway, if you're pushing 40 and spent most of your youth falling out of night clubs it's pointless going for top of the range, you won't be able to tell the difference.

Eeh, I have a Z5500 at my vacation home and a proper Yamaha A/V with a set that is similar to, but a little better than this. While the Z5500 is great, the difference is huge. The price difference is for good reason. Just because I like my Fiat and I would not spend more on a car, it does not mean I'll start pushing it in threads about Mercedes deals...

The Yamaha NSP40 package on same website is £116 NEW, how much better are these refurbs? Will be mostly used for gaming, then streaming amazon/netflix and a little music.

Wharfedale has great reputation, they have a better track record as speaker manufacturer's

No speaker wire included.Worth noting.

Is this a powered or passive sub?

EDIT: Chat answered, ordered, thanks OP. Got this with the Pioneer amp that was £170 on here.
