Seems like a cracking deal, also appears to include the hanging brackets too. Just one thing; I can't see any mention of the 3 year warranty, please could you point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Only available online, no no voucher trick surely.

Thanks Millercat, got it now. Have to click the "special offers" tab to see this.

Seems too good to be true, doesn't it?

Re the vouchers trick, how is it possible to work this if the item is only available for home delivery? Presumably I would have to buy it on interest free credit, then use the vouchers to pay off the credit?

Sorry if I am being thick today!

Does anyone know if these Wharfedale TV's are any good? Can't seem to find any reputable reviews. The price and the three year warranty are mighty tempting though.

Alternatively, buy the same set with Express delivery from the same site for £819.99 :whistling:

For the spec it seems a bargain. Was just wondering if anyone had any experience of them first. Picture quality on LCD's tends to vary alot.

Man, I'm conflicted now.

even though i posted this
i tend to think a lcd picture quality is not as good as a CRT TV(which it wont be anyway) or even on my plasma on standard definition like normal tv
but once you attach an HD source I.E. ps3, xbox 360 a upscaling 1080i or a 1080p dvd player, blue ray hd dvd sky hd, hdmi free view box etc....
then its gonna be awesome

Consensus is it isn't a great screen, and contrast ratio is very low, and you can get much better for not a lot more. But ok for those on a tight budget.

hi bertie
cheers for listing the reviews
but they were listed when the set was at £800.00
i know that doesnt alter the review of the screen
so obviosly that needs taking into account as the set is only £499 now
valid point though mate

Thanks for the post. I have managed to cancel the ebuyer order for my Hannspree, and put in an order for one of these. Can't really go wrong for that price with a 3 year warranty.

Still not clear on the voucher situation, so have bought on 9 months interest freecredit while I look into this (there are other options for discounted vouchers, in the event that the instore trick no longer works). In the event that I can't use vouchers to pay off the credit, I have still got a great deal.

Delivery Friday, will let you know how I get on.

Thanks again.

Cheers Scoot, but these vouchers can generally be found on ebay at between 10% and 15% off face value.

Looks like a cracking deal at that price.

Well, I'm a sucker for cheap ****, so I took the plunge and ordered one of these fellas!

The 3 year guarantee and overwhelmingly cheap price for a large 1080p TV won me over in the end. The 9 month interest-free credit was a good bonus also.

Thanks for post...now to tell the OH!

Anyone know if this supports HDCP, trying to find more detailed specs and nothing.

Looked on Vestel's site and they dont have a 1080P like this.

So very tempted

just noticed a Toshiba 42'' 42X3030D WXGA Freeview HD Ready LCD TV (Black) on Play at £899 has a contrast ratio of 1000:1, I'm nearly sure I read somewhere that a lot of manufacturers measure their contrast ratio differently....they do it their own method to confuse and provide BIGGER ratio figures...so we may not be comparing Apples for Apples...if you get my drift

Interesting to note that it's £499.99*
Then on the left further down
* Please note that this item has not been price reduced

Then later on the previously on sale at £799 statement.

Anyhow, the 1500:1 contrast ratio shouldn't necessarily be the primary concern. A lot of the manufacturer's cr figures are 'dynamic' contrast.
The highly acclaimed Toshiba 42WLT66 has a true manufacturer's contrast ratio of 800:1 but What Home Cinema tested it to be 575:1 in reality.

In the review they said:

Toshiba only quotes a rather uninspiring contrast ratio of 800:1 for the 42WLT66, but in practice this figure seems pessimistic. Dark areas
of the picture are certainly less afflicted by the low contrast ‘grey mist’ than we’d expect of an 800:1 figure, and there are at least passable amounts of shadow detail. That said, there is a slightly blue undertone to the Tosh’s black levels.

I know that's a lot of info about a different TV but it's worth bearing in mind that figures don't tell the whole story, only the eye does, and that's for a >£1000 TV so this really does look like a bargain. I'm holding out for now, just waiting to see what real life reviews come along. Can't wait to hear what you guys have to say about yours.
