Damn i feel old!

For those who have ever wondered ‘What was on TV on the day I was born?’ the BBC has something you’ll enjoy.

Ok, even if you’ve never wondered that, the The BBC Genome Project is a fascinating new online archive where you can look back at the telly listings from every copy of the Radio Times ever published.

The BBC are hoping this will prompt people around the world to dig out any old school tapings or recordings of shows they may have.

Going all the way back to the 1920s and running up until 2009, you can select any issue and read in plain text the title and synopsis of the programmes that were on during that time.

You can also browse the archive by year and browse old Radio Times covers.

Not sure why anyone would want to know the TV listing of the past.

Why not? It's probably more of a nostalgic thing to know and remembering what great shows or cartoons used to be on

I had a look and all I can say is 'you young uns don't know how lucky you are!'

Open University was on while I was being born! How exciting!

I didn't know Alan Titchmarsh was on tv in 1984... so there you go, another piece of useless information stored in my brain lol

I find it hard to resist the urge to vote anything connected to the BBC anything but cold! ...but on this occasion I'll let it fly...

The only thing on air when I was born was beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

I had nothing on when I was born too....

I'm sorry, I'll read that again !...

Oh dear, It was Jimmy Savile doing TOTP....

well I don't understand why this is part of the Genome Project. Genome is the total DNA of a living thing.

Anyway, it was interesting to look. When I was born there was a comedy show on written by Spike Milligan and Eric Sykes.

Uh oh:

.......The BBC News channel just displayed images of the three women who claimed that Jimmy Savile abused then. They showed a current picture of each of the women and a picture taken of each of them from the 1970s.

The caption read: Now, then. Now, then. Now, then.

Sung Eucharist was on when I was born (the programme on Spanish for beginners had just finished, unless it was still the interval between the two!) or Open University on bbc2.
I expect the hospital was a more interesting place to be!

My daughter was Rocky IV and my son was cbeebies on BBC1

what a waste of time

I just checked and I can't remember any of the shows that were on the day I was born

heat added for the fun factor

though I suspect people who were born in the 60's/70's won't want to know how many padeo's were on telly during their time

Your making reference in 'Back To The Future' terminology here?.

A Channel come on Air at 11:45, & goes off at 11:35? .. so that TV Station physically turned itself 'Off-Air' literally 10 Minutes BEFORE it went 'On-Air'? .. confused?, you will be ..... hahahaha.

Lol. :-)

I've got a feeling I might make it four with It's a Knockout and Stuart Hall.

No, the prime show was Z Cars. Good to see Monty Python was on too.

Theres far more of those b******s around now than ever - Oxford, Rochdale, Manchester and Rotherham just the current ones in the news
And they're far worse than the pedos then. And they didn't have corrupt hypocrites covering up for them either
