Alan Sugar was born in 1947 and brought up on a council estate in Clapton, in Hackney. As a kid he watched his dad struggle to support the family, never knowning from one week to the next if he'd have a job. It had a huge impact on him, fuelling a drive to succeed that was to earn him a sizeable personal fortune. Now he describes his amazing journey, from schoolboy enterprises like making and selling his own ginger beer to setting up his own company at nineteen; from Amstrad's groundbreaking ventures in hi-fi and computers, which made him the darling of the stock exchange, to the dark days when he nearly lost it all; from his pioneering deal with Rupert Murdoch to his boardroom battles at Tottenham Hotspur FC. He takes us into the world of The Apprentice, and describes his appointment as advisor to the government and elevation to the peerage. Like the man himself, this autobiography is forthright, funny and sometimes controversial.

I'll wait til it's in Poundland. Probably shortly after Christmas....

Oh Sugar

You can get this for £5 from WH smith in store using the £5 off £10 books voucher, possibly additional 20% too.

Voucher link here hotukdeals.com/vou…356

BTW this got cold for me even when at £5, not a lot liking Sir Alan on here.

‎Lord Sugar- "You couldn't sell me a box of matches in a dark room. Plus those stupid glasses are getting right on my ***s".

Melissa- "Thank you for your feedback, Lord Sugar"

actually, this is a very good book-one which all gadget/football fans should read-a lot more in depth than most "celebrity" autobiographies-his stories of his time at spurs and the dawn of sky tv as well as amstrads rise to fame are very interesting.

but as others have mentioned-this can be had for a fiver in wh smith.

No doubt will be another tomorrow, as they seem to release the discounts one after the other. I just join their privileged club with a new spam email and another fake name.

elevation to the peerage

'Elevation' usually implies that you've done something worthwhile for which you've been rewarded, rather than just bank-rolling the last lot of failed solicitors and do-gooders who wrecked the economy in the name of making us all "more equal" (and then refer to their colleagues as "ginger rodents!" - cheers H, undoing all that wonderful work in two words...)

What's even more scary than any Hellspawn creature knocking on my door tonight was that I just stumbled across Alan Sugar masks at Hakimpur!

Now why, oh why, would you want one of these? Boredom in the boardroom, or bedroom????
