That's the timer dial counting down
Got this for £21 last year - tesco. Not very powerful.

I agree... I have both the Screwfix tower fan and the pedestal one - the pedestal one is brilliant (& was only 14.99!). The tower fan barely makes any difference in my classroom (but the pedestal one blows the books off the desk!)
What is so special about this?
Tower fans are a waste of money imo. You only get airflow in a small cone and close to the floor, so if you are sitting in a chair, or sleeping in a bed you will have a bad time. They are alway much louder than the pedestal fans because of the higher rpm.

Bought one yesterday in Tesco for £22. Agreed, it's not that powerful, but I found it perfect for the bedroom as it is also quiet with an acceptable air flow.
Same model in Tesco for ~£22 right now. Great for bedrooms - timer is a bit noisy
I got a remote controlled tower fan in a sale and all the functions like timer and speeds, swivel etc were great but the actual fan part was rubbish. You are much better off with a traditional fan I believe as the tower is so limited in area covered.
Also the oscillation function of it broke within the first year.
Will never get another tower fan and already the Screwfix ones I bought beat this just manual but I can live with that.
Damn I paid £30 for 50W one from Argos. Couldn't you post it earlier?
just bought this now for a bedroom.

anyone know how to stop the minor clicking timer noise which I'm getting even when just in the "ON" position? (i.e. not on timer)
