Which store? I have been in a couple large Asdas recently on the return to uni and haven't spotted this.

Didn't know what Malamine was until I googled it. what I got was:

Melamine (pronounced /ˈmɛləmiːn/ ( listen)) is an organic base and a trimer of cyanamide, with a 1,3,5-triazine skeleton. Like cyanamide, it contains 66% nitrogen by mass and, if mixed with resins, has fire retardant properties due to its release of nitrogen gas when burned or charred, and has several other industrial uses.

erm, this is why google is your friend!

Westbrook, Warrington (Clearance bin-end, at end of towel aisle)

I had some of these in my hand this morning. They also did the matching salad servers for 25p a pair.

First thought was wow thats cheap lets get loads - then looked closer, cant use in microwave, and to be honest they feel cheap and I would equate quality with lower quality pound shop stuff rather than £4 stock at asda.

So I left them. They are cheap as chips (well cheaper really as chips round here are £1.95 for a large portion) and hot for the price but problem is if they get too hot ie high for 3 mins in the microwave they melt.

Melamine is not a very healthy substance as far as I know, therefore not recommened for food.
Correct me if I am wrong

Melamine is pretty benign. It is used as a flame retardant in powdered form in plastics, however when it is mixed with resins and solidified does not migrate. Really there is nothing to worry about.

thanks will take a look tomorrow

Why has this expired ??

Hmm eating out of cancerous bowls sounds fantastic.

Chernobyl salad anyone?

Surely they wouldn't be able to sell them if they were hazardous to your health?
