Quick synopsis/ review below

White Men Can't Jump, writer-director Ron Shelton's 1992 follow-up to the baseball comedy-drama Bull Durham, involves a different sport: basketball, as played on the neighbourhood hustler circuit. Woody Harrelson is Billy Hoyle, a good shooter using his white complexion to fool black players into thinking he can be stomped in easy bets. Billy's banter-filled matchup against Sidney Deane (Wesley Snipes) on a public court leads to a partnership in which Sidney becomes Billy's manager, taking the white outsider on a tour of the tougher sections of Los Angeles, where he plays homeboys for a few bucks. The actors are entirely in sync, and the scenes under and around the hoops are a thrill to watch.

Top film ...

I jumped earlier, I'm a white man....I hurted my feets though.

Great Film!

(Harrelson) I may be a chump, I just said that wasn't my name.

(Harrelson)The thing is you guys look at me you see the backwards hat and you say ''This guy's a chump.''

What you don't realize is that it ain't easy. It is ''hard goddamn work'' making something this pretty look like a chump. I must be doing it for a reason.

(Snipes) Billy, I have four words for you: "Listen to the Woman"

(Perez) When I said I was thirsty. it doesn't mean I want a glass of water.

(Harrelson) It doesn't?

(Perez) You're missing the whole point of me saying I'm thirsty. If I have a problem you're not supposed to solve it.
Men always make the mistake of thinking they can solve a woman's problem. It makes them feel omnipotent.

(Harrelson) Omnipotent? Did you have a bad dream?

(Perez) It's a way of controlling a woman.

(Harrelson)Bringing them a glass of water?

(Perez) Yes. I read it in a magazine. See. if I'm thirsty I don't want a glass of water. I want you to sympathize. I want you to say. ''Gloria. I. too know what it feels like to be thirsty. I too have had a dry mouth.'' I want you to connect with me through sharing and understanding the concept of dry mouthedness.

(Harrelson) When I say I'm thirsty it means if anybody has a glass of water I'd love a sip.

Quality film - think I paid about £10 for this when it came out on dvd (and probably about the same on video!)

Thats what I like to see, dvd's at the price they should be.

Excellent film! (already own it tho)

Great find! Picked a few bargains up myself there the other day - Changing Lanes, Sum of All Fears, The Saint, Harlem Nights, Paycheck and Dragnet!

Will have a look for this next time.

Briiiiiiick! Voted hot =)

Funny how if a film called "Black Men Can't *Insert verb*" would be considered incredibly racist...
