White Samsung Serif 40" TV at £699 in Homesense/TK Maxx 3840x2160 (RRP £1299)

This will probably go stone cold if you price it simply as a 40" TV, although massively below RRP, but this thing of beauty has been sent to pretty much all Homesense (and TK Maxx I think) stores, they'll probably just have the one set each so probably quite goosey also...

That aside, the idea is it isn't just some grey/black box to be as thin as possible.

To me this is a beautifully designed, unusual, high-spec TV, meant to be noticed but it may be a bit Marmite.

I bought one yesterday for the bedroom, it's really stunning. The picture is lovely too, and the smart hub element is minimal and interesting, with a full screen analogue style clock.

Removable legs so you can stand it on a table, chest of drawers etc.
The back is a stfened fabric panel with magnets that peels off to hide the connections.

I'm not a TV expert, the full specs are here: samsung.com/uk/…XU/

Well that's different! Good price but not for me.

Love it. Have some heat.

Fisher Price anyone? Fugly

It wouldn't go in our front room but love how different this is!

but it is just a 40 inch TV...?

what's the appeal?

Is this supposed to be a statement of style over practicality? Where do the consoles, bluray players, tv boxes go? Looks awful and impractical.

Aside from the specs, which are good: the design of the TV is the appeal, clearly.
Some people like nice design stuff as well as functional.
Of course 'nice' is subjective, so you may not like it, which is fine...

It's a bedroom TV in my opinion, and I don't have consoles in there, don't need a bluray player etc as it has Netflix, Amazon iPlayer apps and Freesat etc, so I don't see a conflict of style over functionality. It would be impractical for my living room also.

It may not be your style, but if someone liked it, and you can find one on sale you'd be hard pushed to get it below £850 anywhere, let alone this price.

Seconded, first thing i think of when i see these 'lifestyle' tvs. I guess its different, from the usual designs so credit for that, but i don't think having a tv that looks like a school blackboard is really worth paying 2-3 times what the tv would normally cost.

Plus in normal day to day use i would worry about it getting knocked over as those legs look really thin in those pictures...

The Serif TV was designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, who are very highly regarded designers. Besides the beautiful external aesthetics, it also has a really minimal interface design, which was also specifically created by the Bouroullec brothers for the product.

Obviously, people who are looking for the most bang for their buck aren’t going to be tempted by this, but people with an eye for details and design will undoubtedly appreciate this.

I wish there was more information on the model available. What colour is it? I suspect it’s probably the less appealing dark blue or red models that Samsung are trying to offload. Does anyone have any more info on this?

Agreed! Honestly it looks amazing, even the remotes are cool. The 40" white UE40LS001AU are the models sent in to stores (noted & title amended), the best one IMHO, but possibly they've had others too.

It comes with a guy rope style fastener to secure it to a cabinet/wall if needed, but clearly you wouldn't have this in your living room if you have small kids running about...

What colour did you buy? Did they have a selection of colour models?

Possibly the worst review for a TV that I’ve ever seen. Quite a find.

the designers of this tv. my *** your tv is now in tk maxx mate

It's great that manufacturers make unusual products like this, sure it won't appeal to many but every LCD now looks much the same and a bit of variety in style is a great thing.

Consumer electronics (TV, video, hifi, radios) used to be much more interesting 20 or more years ago, with innovative designs that you just don't see today.

Do you still do Skoda jokes too?

Just looks like a TV with a bigger than normal bezel and some flimsy looking legs. Another example of form over function.

What do you call a Skoda driver who says he's had a speeding ticket?
A liar

Awful,overpriced piece off sh#t

White 40". They only had that. Given a selection I'd have gone for that anyway.

Can't disagree with you. Just personal taste. I'm sure it'll be great for you.

An exclusive TV design project with Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec.

Anybody heard of these people?

Thanks Op ...picked one up today...Homesence only had one and i also went to a TK max but they dont seem to have them.

Took about 10 mins to set up....it is a beautiful piece of kit. the picture is stunning and it feels real quality. i can understand the comments on over priced ,only 40" etc etc , but i had a 49" black bezel tv and was worried that this was going to look to small . once it was swapped and the sound and picture quality shone through . It will aldepend on the size of your room, but i am over the moon with this.. I have to also say the staff at Home Sence were great ,making sure everything was ok inside the box etc etc . 699 is still a lot of money, more than i have ever spent on a TV ,but if you are looking for TV which is also a quality bit of furniture , i think this would be at least a option to look at . Thanks again op

I picked one up today.... in my opinion a great find... a TV which looks good even when it's off. not for everyone , but if you are interested in a quality tv which looks great then worth considering.

Sadly most people are only interested in lowest price and will struggle to understand why people will pay more for something different and unusual. I'm glad most people don't like these things because it means those of us that do like them are a not just like everyone else

Looking at videos of it it looks great when it has a picture on screen
