Haha I read the first line and thought the same thing..... A password may help.
Would this allow me to see which websites are being viewed, or does such an app exist?

Nah, that's why I've downloaded this app so I can find out the culprits and write them a strongly worded letter if I can work out where they live.

I have heard tell that the boffins and backroom boys are also working on a system whereby it is possible to hide network names (let's call them SSIDs) and give each device a unique serial number which can be enabled or disabled on the network. The latter has the working title "MAC authentication".

192.168.0.1 would be sufficient...failing that, replace the zero with a 1.

Why do people fall for this? Apps like this harvest and sell your data. Be careful especially with free games. Play store is terrible for this.
