maybe cos tescos are doing freedom food chickens for £2.67 for a 1.55kg chicken.

I'm no chicken hugger but would prefer to pay the extra 67p just for the taste / texture difference that chickens have that have been allowed to move around.

didnt vote btw

bet that's delicious chicken.:santa:

I vote hot

HOT!!!

EDIT: Are these the ones you can get in 'Extra Tasty' , Garlic, lemon etc?

£1.78 in tescos.

Vote this hot.

Chicken+not enough heat=salmonella.

Not voting because it's only 67p cheaper than a free range bird!
If I'm conscientiously going for a caged bird there needs to be a bigger price differential! some of us have principles! :whistling:

The others are NOT free range, they are "freedom food". They are still caged / reared indoors, they are still packed very close together (but to rspca standards), they have a little light coming from a window, and will still have a lot of artificial fattening products (but not growth hormone).

It's amazing for just £2 such a little animal suffers with hardly any meat on them. People should eat cats and dogs; at least they are properly cared for. Yes I am a veggie. This will get interesting!

wow the chicken police are here. Chicken is chicken, I don't care where it comes from, how it was reared blah blah blah.

I hope those of you with 'principles' don't eat take-aways cus guess what chicken you are getting!!

Quite right that they are not free-range, but still a world away from a battery hen!

Yeah it's all well and good to start moaning about people who like decent meat, you're more than welcome to eat saline injected rancid chickens just because they're "cheap".
Funny thing is you've used a picture of a corn fed and most probably free range chicken for the offer, was the image of a horrid cheap chicken not enticing enough?

im not gonna go on about chicken welfare as we all have our own opinions but how much profit did the farmer make. 10p maybe. dicusting whilst they work their working their socks off to provide cheap food for immigrants and dole dossers

This made me laugh
Only Immigrants and dole dossers eat cheap chickens?

I must have read what you typed incorrectly, surely?

Seemingly not, all of the people I saw at lunchtime in Telford Asda standing at the checkouts holding their three chickens more tightly than they hold their children looked like they never pay attention to the deals on hygeine products posted on here.

I normally buy these at full price so if I can pick them up at £2 then i'm there.
Kind Regards

didn't post that first picture mate, mods must of. and i haven't commented on the quality of the chicken.
anyway, ive changed the picture to one you might find less offensive :whistling:

We shouldn't be promoting cruelty to animals in this day and age.

Because it is impossible to contract salmonella from posh 'free range' fowl. You only get that from the chav variety, I suppose. Must have been what Heston Blumenthal was dishing up in his caff.

I love threads like this. It brings all the yoghurt knitters and smug foodie evangelists out from under their stones in a concert of cleverer-than-thou.:lazy:

wether its a caged chicken or barn raised freedom food chicken it still sits in its own s*it all day.
half the chickens that are sold as free range are infact caged or barn raised anyway, yes theres massive food fraud in this country because gullible people wouldnt be able to tell the difference anyway. people with more money than sense see the mark and buy it, to get the free range or freedom food mark they just have to pass an inspection every couple of years, how does that protect the animals welfare for the other 364 days of the year?
theres more pressing matters in the world than how a chicken is raised, like the thousands of Iraqi and Afghan civilians being slaughtered everyday by our troops, the thousands of Afican children dying of starvation, and theres the chicken lovers moaning about a chicken.

cheap for £2 but still rubbish chicken.
id rather go the butchers,fresh

Do people not think that these supermarkets just use the chicken prices to lure customers into doing their weekly shop at their stores? yes, £2 is cheap, but its the same chicken that could be charged at £3 or £5, its just the supermarket will make less profit on this item to get punters through their doors; the chicken is still treated the same.

Anyone else getting rather bored of these chicken wars? :whistling:

Agreed 100%
Very few complaints about the same chickens bought by 'retards' at £4.50. I do my shopping at ASDA anyway so they would get my custom regardless, may as well pick up a bargain.
I wasn't greedy and pick up just the two tonight. Thanks again OP

If people here feel so strongly why not go picket your local asda, even when the chickens are full price.

considering you people are supposed to be all righteous and love all living things etc, thats not a very nice thing to say is it? wishing a fellow living thing to get salmonella. Not very nice at all!!!

oh dear, lmao.

How very sad and pathetic these arguments are, lol.

If you don't like this chicken, then jog on. Stop preaching to people who really don't give a flying camel what some anonymous on a shopping deals website thinks.

Hot deal, thanks OP.

You then go on to add your own comment!
Your a sad and pathethick person.

A chicken is a chicken, They all taste the same, Now if they pump them with water etc then theirs going to be a difference.

Theirs no real evidence to suggest organic or free-range food tastes better, it's psychological.

Paying extra for a free range chicken is hardly going to change the sad environment they live in.

They all end up on your plate come Sunday, Better eat them all than go to waste, Which would be a needless waste.

Any Quorn shaped or tasting birds to be had? ;-)
