My wife loves sitting on my deck!

I heard that she wasn't choosy about who's deck she sits on :-)

It's starts from tomorrow
Good find, thanks. Haven't checked around for prices yet, but half price at Wickes must be a good start.

I buy these when they're on a deal and use them for making planters. They do a budget type board for about £3.5 for 1.8m. Not sure how they'll hold out for weight bearing after collecting water but a good solid frame should suffice.
Good wee find, Its a pity its not on all Wickes Decking boards, the composite ones are not in the offer, ach well.

Be sure to use proper screws, passivated or stainless or the preservative chemicals will eat them.

pretty sure they were 4.50 for a standard 2.4m board last year, gone to 7.00 this year

Definitely. Was in need of some materials yesterday and looked back at a receipt from September last year: the 1.8m Wickes Value deck boards were £3.50 BOGOF, so £1.75 each. They're now £5.25 per board.

That's ridiculous isn't it
Timber can't have gone up that much
B&Q value board £2.50. Wickes aren’t as good now they inflated the price to just over £5.

diy.com/dep…prd
Is this for the £5.25 decking board too
chrisciocan103/04/2019 21:25

Brexit

They're European pine, and sterling is stronger vs euro now than last September (GBP 1 = EUR 1.12 then, and GBP 1 = EUR 1.17 now), and the same could be said of most of last year when the boards at the cheaper price would have been sourced.

Wickes have increased the RRP by 50%!
Disappointing to see all these reports of bigger RRP. I was excited when i saw this deal, now it doesn't seem so good. Do the other hardware stores have the same high prices?
Thanks for the heads up, in need of 10x 3.6 boards to make a long raised planter to go in front/along my decking. Prices have increased from last year but as I need it to match the other planter and my decking used with the premium boards it’s still saving me!

Its getting more difficult to source timber.
After all, it doesn't grow on trees.

Yes she’s tried a few however prefers my deck as it’s a good solid one.

B&Q are 95 mm wide. Wickes are 120 mm wide. Bought some in september last year and made planters last week. They went up in price though from 3.50 to 5.25 so not sure if they are good value anymore even with the BOGOF.

And that bunch of squaddies’....
Depending on size of the decking you want there is at least a £100 worth of savings. Just compared between Wickes and B&Q's premium boards

It hasn t just the price lol
Decking definitely more expensive this year.
Bought some 2.4m boards last month - Homebase were cheapest, then Wickes then B&Q

Since most timbers are imported, hardly homegrown the fluctuation in currency, and uncertainty has impacted timber prices, they have risen sharply though not to this extent (it's goes to show the markup Wickes and the likes put on). We sell at £2.10/m without any discounts!
It only sounds good, but it's on level par with local merchants, never go to such companies for decking, £4.17/m is extortionate, everyone should be paying less than half this price all day long.
Also on offer at Travis Perkins at the mo. Little bit more money but thicker and wider than Wickes.
eg
32mm x 144mm x 3m £7.20
32mm x 144mm x 3.6m £8.64
32mm x 144mm x 4.8m £11.52
Is this good deal then if RRP price went so high up than before?
price appears reasonable with the BOGOF offer
Price too high in first place, remember buying them much cheaper last year
Well that's my weekends sorted for the next cpl of weeks.....

4 trade packs (100x2.4mtr) for £315 delivered is a pretty good deal I think.

Thanks OP 😁😁😁

They increase for a period so they can say in a few weeks that its’s half price.
