Perfect timing.

I bought 4 bags of these llast year. still got all 4. it didn't snow.

Had this a couple of months ago at £1.49. Still a good price at double that. Don't forget Quidco for a little bit of saving.

Cold. It's not Himalayan Pink!

has anyone ever tried using soda crystals? says on the packet or their Web page I can't remember which that it can be used to de ice the path but I'm a bit dubious that it won't make it more slippery!

Time for some Primal Scream I hear you all say

i was going to post exactly the same thing......but you and I both know it will snow or the weather will take a turn for the worse.....and you will not have to try to hunt down bags of salt. I bought a snow spade thing last year as well, although I have not used it yet, I kow I will.

Is it organic?

Anyone got a link to a decent salt & pepper grinder?

That will sort me out this winter.

good idea! then when everyone does it and cars crash because there is nothing left to grit the roads with we can all help the organ donors with all the dead bodies too. Win Win

DUNNO!!!!! (no need to shout)

But it will damage decking. Would advise against using it on that in case anyone is considering it.

The grit bins are normally placed at locations that need gritting but don't normally get covered by the grit lorries (normally bus routes only). on slopes or hills, we had one near out house as we have a cobbled street with a steep camber on it, and once snow covered can only be driven in one direction. The other 3 I know locations I know are on slopes approaching main roads.

.....so you concur, the grit bins are there for folks to use....

Wouldn't think so - roads are made of tarmac and they hold up to it. I don't like this stuff near the house - mainly because you walk it in and have white stains everywhere when it dries.

Maybe in your area. In my local grit bin the contents is as follows:

2 coke cans
1 plastic bag
4 shovels worth of sharp sand
1 shovel worth of sludge
1 mouse
