Motor oil is sticky and attracts dirt, I think it will be harder to clean from chain after lube. Chain should be lubricated just inside and dry outside.

I dont think I have ever paid more that £4 for this (120ml) the rrp is a bit of a joke.

Salomon gear is excellent, not sure what the moans are all about. I have quite a few pairs of walking boots and none of them could be described as pleasing to the eye. But they're built for comfort/toughness, not for style.

I've been through half a dozen Cabelbak bottles over past 10 years. Each time i give them the benefit of the doubt, but the same thing keeps happening, it leaks. The seal ends up going and the bite valves and straw can become dirty. Unfortunately replacement lids and valves etc cost just the same as a new bottle. I eventually switched to a Contigo bottle and have never been happier.

Completely agreed about the turbo.

I understand what you are saying about training, but to be honest there is so little in it in terms of resistance. The comfort is night and day however.

On the money saving front, it's fine to buy something because it's cheap, but not if it's not the right product.

Need a few of these for the back of my Nissan Juke- I always feel the lack of Christmas tree lights on the rear was an oversight
The worrying trend I've picked up whilst reading this is that no matter how many lights you have, flashing or not, people look, but don't actually "see" cyclists - they're only seeing cars and the opportunity to pull out, often in front of cyclists and other vulnerable road users.

I have 2 lights at the front, both German approved so there is an upper lighting cut-off so they point ahead and down at the road yet don't dazzle. I can see and be seen. The rear light however is a scanning strobe that lights me up like a Christmas tree as I feel this is the safest.

As if that wasn't enough, I have a Reflect360+ jacket.

And I am right, it still isn't enough...

If this is bright and a deal, please buy it to ensure your safety.
If it saves the live of a cyclist from being hit , then so what about the legalities of strobe / flashing lights . I would rather face the consequences.
Having a bright steady light and a less bright flashing one is a sensible option for both front and rear. That's what I do. This I feel gives you the best chance of being seen. And the added benefit is redundancy. Should one of the lights die mid ride, you still have one to get you through your journey.
I find that a lot of the lights on the market while legal at close to 4hz are flashing way to rapidly. We shouldn't blame the law. It's just common sense. Most of us cyclists are drivers also. We should be sensible in our choice of lights.

I agree, I voted hot but it is also useful for people with genuine experience to highlight better quality or cheaper alternatives. For instance someone posted a telescope earlier reduced from £139 to £33 and it went super hot but genuine astronomers said it was atrocious and not worth any amount of money. Their comment got 70+ likes because it was valuable.

Some comments are really unhelpful though.

If you want a rugged bag for travel, have a look at Montrose Rope & Sail. It's the standard bag used in the UK Oil & Gas industry by the workers. They get hoofed on and off helicopters, bounced around in transit, and are generally used and abused in the worst of conditions. The same goes for the Montrose bags ;-) , and they stand up to the useage.

I didn't intend cycling very fast for obvious reasons though to be honest it wasn't really the tyres that were the problem, it was the gears, and because they were covered in snow I couldn't pick up much spead due to them slipping as you can imagine.Be careful when turning corners though, I felt my bike slip under me when turning into the road where I live, was lucky I didn't come off as well.Incidentally, does anyone know the difference between these and the xtremes? From the description the TPI appears to be the same and appear a little lighter, is there much difference otherwise? I'm currently using the xtremes on my bike.
