It's a decent entry level trainer and a great price. I had one a couple of years ago before upgrading to a Neo, and it was a great way to get started on my ongoing Zwift addiction. The racing on Zwift is what keeps me coming back, a couple of races a week has you working out at intensities you wouldn't put yourself through without the desire to keep up with the pack, and hang in there until the end.

Well I find Zwift fun, addictive and motivating. (:I This is a fantastic price for a decent wheel-on trainer, heat added.

That so specific I feel sorry for you, but you did save me from looking into buying something I most likely wouldn't use as often as I tell myself I would .. so thank you

Here's a bit of advice: These sound like a good idea, but they take up space and don't get used. Eventually you find it's blocking the drinks cupboard door from opening freely, and you have to take three bottles out before your hand finds the one you are looking for. These are a great workout, but if you don't take to zwift or trainer road, which are not fun or addictive (unless you have a genuine goal), you might find going for a jog to be more rewarding, cheaper - but on the negative side, you can open the drinks cupboard easily.

Had to return the first two due to manufacturing faults but the thirds been spot on! Zwift is excellent motivation.

A whole two watts (embarrassed)

I looked at this site a few weeks ago when needing to replace my worn out GP4000S II's. IIRC they still came out slightly better in terms of puncture resistance than the new GP5000 and no real difference otherwise. Making it a no-brainer to buy again at the reduced price whilst they are clearing out stock. Hopefully by the time they are no longer available the GP5000 price will normalize...

bicyclerollingresistance.com/ If it helps this site shows you rolling resistance and puncture resistance comparison between tyre

I'll stick with my tubeless then, and just save up amd replace the giant wheels eventually

Think I would stick with the tubeless and survive more punctures! The gp4000s felt nice but not any faster really - I found swapping tubes out slowed me down a LOT :D

Aparrently doesnt fit my new HotUkDeals purchase ffs : https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/indi-balance-bike-for-18-at-halfords-free-cc-3234689

Honestly this is such a good price for Dura Ace I'm tempted to get it instead of the Ultegra, no idea why this is cold. Obviously people that don't realise what a top end groupset is worth...

It's almost all about weight. I believe the chainring shifting ramps are slightly better too.

I had dura ace on my first ever good road bike which I purchased some 15 years ago. I've done so many miles, raced and travelled with it. Still going strong. How many cars last that long? Sometimes it's nice to have the nice thing. Whether you deserve it or not. When it eventually comes to the end of its life - I'd buy durace again.

To be fair the 105 group set is pretty good. Ultegra and duraace are mainly weight saving. They will be more assured and slightly less frictional losses but it’s marginal. I think you will find di2 is where it’s at, once you go electronic you never go back....

How’s it an undershirt? Its worn over clothes (confused)

looks like they have done 'an ASOS' with their pictures and left the lumps of wood that they use to 'pad-out' the bag in. I wouldn't buy one of these without reviews - and there don't seem to be many online - also it doesn't come with water bottles - while others may fit, i would feel happier with ones that were designed in mind - rather than designed with 'off-cuts of wood' in mind

Is this suitable for a full Bear Grylls box set?

just finished, had to buy a new hope headset. Got some new wheels built and got a NX derailer. I'm probably going to remove the pannier rack as this one isn't of high quality. Other than that, the locking feature on the forks is a god send.

What fox, these are manitou? I’m on the look out for some fox34 29er

These aren’t anywhere near as good as the fox advertised on this deal tho.

Given you normally need to pay more for a single-sided crank arm power meter, these are a cracking deal.

These are 24/28 Spoked wheels, they needed a little truing out of the box. They feel solid to ride and the power reading is comparable to my stages metering

Thanks man. I'm surprised about what you said about the finish. DT Swiss are usually very good rims. Regarding the weight, that is seriously heavy, even for training. Especially when you consider that they're not even areo wheels. I'm not saying they're bad, but £350 isn't exactly cheap. Like I said before though, maybe someone who is looking for these type of wheels will find them suitable

Google and ye shall find... https://www.powertap.com/product/dt-swiss-r460-alloy-wheels FR 770 RR 1030 So at 1800g these are robust training wheel territory. Biggest criticism I found is that the finishing and build of the rims can be a bit hap-hazard.

It says nothing of the weight. But maybe these are best suited to people who want/need the specific features, rather than weight weenies like me

645 has UltraTrac

Ah, good call. Forgot the FR range use the clip. I have a Vivoactive and it uses the same connector as the Fenix. But yeah, one of those cheap, small ~2000mah lightweight batteries would keep you going for ages I suspect all these watches could be software-enabled to allow UltraTrack but that would give people less reason to buy new Fenixes, I guess :-(

Clip seemed to fit whilst wearing it! OOOOOH, bit of duct tape and you're away.

FWIW, if you start to run low you can plug a portable battery bank into it and it'll still record whilst you're moving. Might mean you lose cadence and HR data as you'll need to take it off your wrist but 10-15 minutes boost will top your battery up for an extra couple of hours

Garmin claims 14 hours GPS active but no music. Should be fine for ultras. Nice smaller watch with lots of features. Note that this watch does not have a triathlon mode or open water swimming if this is of interest to you. If this is the case, you'd be better with the 935. This is an older model so does not do music or Garmin Pay but offers longer battery life and more modes. The 945 should be released soon so that 935 price might come down.

I don't think it has but if you google DIY chain guide mtb you can see it is relatively cheap to make something with DIY parts that controls the chain as it enters the chainring and leaves it if you need it. This might be a commercial product but you get the idea and something similar connected to the seat tube that controls the chain at the top if you need that as well but one should be sufficient I would of thought. I'd probably bend a small amount of sheet metal over the chainstay with rubber matting within and use a couple of bolts to secure in position on the chainstay and a pulley wheel sandwiched inside to control the chain, this will also eliminate chain slap too. It really depends on how you use the bike, the rear derailleur used etc. You can get little pulley wheels from aliexpress for about £1.40 delivered meant for motorbikes so likely will last the full life of a bicycle. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/8mm-10mm-Guide-Bike-Pit-Dirt-Tensioner-Wheel-Pulley-Motorcycle-Chain-Roller-Slider/32993550842.html

I think Microshift have just introduced a 9 speed wide ratio with a clutch. I got all excited as I have a bike with bar end shifters that would need everything replacing to use 10spd. Then I saw they used a new cable pull ratio that wasn't compatible with old nine speed. A complete waste of time when Deore is a decent price. I've used these cassettes, they last ages!

No 9 speed clutch mech available. I used to run a 1x9 system and using a narrow wide chain ring I never suffered a dropped chain. But to be fair I wasn't riding over really ruff stuff. And tbf 9 speed was never enough gears, but depends how amd where you ride. 10 speed upgrade is cheap enough

you need at least 10 gears for a clutch mech Id like to know if theres a way round that but these 42-46 cogs are great!

I would say it doesn’t. You can normally see the end of the clutch housing on the side.

Zwift costs 13GBP/month so 156/year. You'd better save up for a better trainer - if you can't afford a 150+ trainer, then you won't be able to afford Zwift itself...

It will be fine....just returned a smart trainer as app kept crashing. Going to continue with my dumb trainer which is fine for getting a good workout.
