Hello All

Shopto have been doing some great prices on the Nintendo Wii U, with the Basic model selling for just £179.85 as posted on another thread. However Shopto have gone one better, for £10 more you can pick up the Basic model with the latest brawler from those twisted folk from Netherealm the studio responses for creating Mortal Kombat.

I am fortunate that I picked up my Wii U at launch and for those that mock the system, while I can appreciate some of the negative comments which has bugged the system. But you really need to play the games to start to get the system, which means that some leap of faith is needed. Since the purchase of my system I have left my XBOX and PS3 switched off because I want to make sure that if I am using the system I am really going to use it, the annoying load times, the menu response issues, however (touch wood) the entire experience from the games and the interaction on the Miiverse has been a complete joy.

This isn't to say the console is perfect but in just 24 hours Nintendo are releasing the latest software update to address the performance issues, game loading speeds, Wii game booting. Add on to that some of the best downloadable content including the free Rayman Origins App that launched today giving you daily and weekly challenges, throw in Nano Assault, the launch of the Virtual Console and you have something which is building up to be a great little beast.

For those that really want to get on the Wii U experience now really seems like an ideal time.

Item is still available and now on back order, I suspect this is more related to shopto getting stocks of the game.

This just represents amazing value for a wicked machine.

£30 cash for Injustice at CEX...

Great price but needs to be much lower for me to buy one, especially with the mammoth ps4 and new xbox which will blow this away.

Nintendo screwed this one up i'm afraid.

Wow...getting much cheaper!

Voted hawt, great price for Wii U with a new game.

Nice trolling, every Wii U deal has trolls. The PS4 and Xbox 720 really aren't anything special, low end 8 core CPU with midrange graphics card, guess what? Wii U also has low end CPU and midrange graphics card. The Wii U will churn out games that look very similar to the PS4 and Xbox 720 counterparts once ports are coming from that as a base instead of the PS3 and Xbox 360 which is currently being ported to Wii U. Need for Speed Wii U was the first game to use HD PC textures on Wii U, it looks far better than Xbox 360 / PS3.

Everybody trolled about the 3DS and praised the Vita.... Look how that turned out...

Not trolling at all, buy one then if its that much of a bother to you and as i said it is a great price!

Some people on here need to get outside more.

Reason I won't get one is simply because Playstation plus makes Playstations so worthwhile atm and if Microsoft and Nintendo don't offer anything decent to compete with it I can see alot of games swaying to Sony.

I think what he is trying to say your argument makes no sense, this is effectively £150 you can hardly get the 7 year old PS3 and 360 for that price, asking for it to be cheaper is just silly

Great value. This is a great time to buy a Wii U with some great games going cheap too!

Great price.

PS+ was an excellent addition to the PS3 and Vita, that's what I used my PlayStation for as well, but while my mates was all playing something new I was still on a game from a year ago that it meant that I had to still buy games alongside my PS+ membership, this isn't to say its bad, it certainly exposes those older titles but it just complements the system for a price.

Really great price! I'd recommend the WiiU (ZombiU is one of the best games I've ever played, blending the older Resident Evil games with Demon Souls), but it's definitely a secondary console: It's gonna have great original experiences, but perhaps not enough for an avid gamer in itself.

Prices on these are starting to get tempting. If it was the premium model I may have gone for it. Although tbh this close to E3 it is probably worth holding out and seeing if they announce a new model or special edition, etc.

wish the32gb version would go sub £200

Aye waiting on PRemium to hit under £200. Not currently worth it otherwise.

Still Heat.

Sorry but you don't make sense... PS3 £130 here.

they are still making these ?

Great price but shows how poorly these must be selling.
No sale for me. PS4 or Nextbox for me.

Well seeing as ps4 and new Xbox will be double the price you can't really compare them, it's like saying a Ferrari/Lamborghini/etc blows away a ford fiesta no s**t Sherlock

If it was Mario I'd probably buy it, hmmmmm, very tempted! Could always trade in the game. I may use this as bait to finish my Uni assignments, and buy it if it's still active when I complete my work.

Hanktank

In real world terms there is very little difference, the Wii U will … In real world terms there is very little difference, the Wii U will probably just render the same games at a little lower resolution.

The problem it faces is that I can't see devs programming for Xbox/Ps4 and then again for Wii U. If the potential sales were there then fair enough but they just aren't.

Well the price is coming down to more sensible levels. It's got similar or less performance than a ps3 / 360 which are 7 - 8 years old and can be had for £120. So realistic price for wii u is around £150.

it is selling really really badly and with no third party support no aaa titles like gta 5 coming to it and next box out at the end of the year it's understable why.

Anyone thinking that the PS4 or Next Xbox are going to be that great are quite frankly deluding themselves. Games will be even more expensive to make, meaning that fewer risks will be taken and higher prices as originality is no longer affordable. Both consoles are likely to be around £400, and in Microsoft's case, they will be see gaming as secondary to trying to dominate the living room for movies and TV. Also, each console generation so far has brought huge changes. The SNES/Mega Drive to Saturn/PlayStation/N64 meant 3D polygons. Then to Dreamcast/PS2/Gamecube/Xbox which refined those and added online functionality. Then to Xbox 360/PS3/Wii with up to 1080p images and better integrated online play/downloadable content, along with motion control in Wii's case. There is nothing new with these consoles, just more of the same.

Sales will underperform, just like the Wii U. Sony and Microsoft will not be able to reduce the price as they will already be making a loss, so the console market will stagnate. There is a lot riding on the next generation of consoles and I could see this being the end of gaming as we know it.

Totally agree with a lot of this, consoles are struggling for innovation, the fact that they are resembling gaming pc rigs more and more shows this. I'm struggling with a few factors for the Wii U, it has far too much in common with the Wii and does somehow feel like a cheap/dirty upgrade rather than something innovative. Also it's lacking from having the titles that draw people towards Nintendo massively, Mario Kart and Zelda so far from release is a major faux pas. Having said that, with Wii prices still around £70 for a brand new one, £190 with a game retailing around £35 doesn't seem too bad and when the titles do eventually come I'm sure they'll do better.

I'm eagerly awaiting E3 to see just how much innovation MS and Sony come up with, I'm still feeling a little stung by the waste of time and money I spent on the kinect, used it about twice for the odd party, lack of good games has made it a waste of time and effort if you ask me. The only innovation I can foresee is the ability to interact with your 'smartphone' in some more ways, which will likely be gimmicky and not be enough to quantify the price of the new consoles.

If what has been rumored is true, then the new Xbox will also have similar PC architecture to the PS4, and all development in theory should be done on the PC and then ported down. That may help with the WiiU in that regard (even if it's not quite as dev friendly as the other two).

The reason console development is so expensive is because mainly of the Cell processor in the PS3, which is well documented to be a nightmare. The new architecture is far more developer friendly, and assuming main development is on PC, scaling down to what the consoles can handle should result in helping drive costs down. (accounting for any developer mishaps of course)

It was only the ps3 that was a hassle to develope for the 360 basically runs a cut down ms os. As a software platform the 360 has been a massive success it has a huge games attach rate and has been by far the most profitable console this generation for developers.

Because Sony are in such bad shape and all the multiplat titles were better on the 360 they have gone the right way this time. Standard pc achitecture and developement platform. The next box is going to run on a version of the windows 8 os. So basically there will be no need to even to port from the pc it will run windows software out of the box with basic tweaks for the controller. Cheaper to develope for the next generation than the current.

Same price as a 3DS XL with a game already. Funny thing is.. the 3DS is actually the better purchase for a decent gaming experience.

Assuming I'm included in 'everybody' you are miles off, personally I thought they both lacked.

lol I think this is turning into a sad state when instead of looking at the benefits each console offers, you'd prefer to argue what is best with no substance. It's a terrible shame when individuals slam opposition without fully understanding the product and to be judgemental and to have a valid opinion you need to have all the consoles.

Playstation 3 excels because of the PS+ subscription, the user interface is the least impressive out of them all.
XBOX 360 is hands down the best Online gaming experience on the market, with the largest selection of games.

Wii U is different, the interface while simple is far more accessible to the user than the PS3 offering. Complaints of the game selection is weak (it's only been out for 5 months what do you really expect?). I suspect gamers forgot what offerings we had with the XBOX or PS3 at launch and how shocking the offerings where for months.

To understand Wii U, you need to play it! Lego City, Batman and Nintendoland highlight some of it's potential. Regardless though, this console offers an opportunity which neither the XBOX or PS3 can replicate and at this price it's considerable attractive.

Who expired it? I just went on the site and it was still available.

Original Poster

Yes it seems some fool has expired the deal but it is still valid.

Shopto have done some great deals of late.

Innovations the problem, this constant need to give everyone something new and unique, they've forgotten how to make games fun. Have you played a Vita? Touch screen, rear touch screen, tilt functionality features shoe-horned into games. I can't wait for the inevitable Uncharted collection re-release next gen so I can play Golden Abyss WITH A CONTROLLER.
