Recently bought a preowned Wii U with Mario Kart. Impressed so far. Looking to get Smash Bros but it has held it value well, so this is a great deal

I just bought myself one of these. Was looking forward to the Switch but then saw the launch line-up and decided to wait. Bought one of these with MK8, Mario 3D and Zelda Wind Waker HD. Love being able to play on the Gamepad while the wife watches TV. Pretty much a Switch that you can't leave the house with.

The condition of Game's 'fair' consoles seems to be inconsistent at best.

Mine came in a brown box, with missing accessories (no sensor bar, console stand or gamepad dock for instance); it was badly scratched and had a dented touchscreen on the gamepad.

I returned it to a store and got a replacement which was in nearly new condition and Mario Kart 8 was installed!

So, my advice is order online with instore collection so it can be checked before you take it home. If it's faulty, Game may swap it for a better one depending on what they have in stock.

Apologies. Now fixed. I blame the silly android app.

Also, don't update the console's firmware to version 5.5.2 before looking into 'haxchi' (Google it)

work around for firmwre 5.5.2 is now working for 'haxchi'. Installed yesterday

Probably a 95% chance any used Wii U will have had the firmware updated. Nintendo encourage it, and actively pop up the option to update. Anyone with MK8 or Splatoon (almost everyone has at least 1 of those) will have hooked their Wii U up to the internet surely?

Do these come sealed? so if you brought one and it was in a terrible condition you could return it for a refund?

Got any links for the guide you used at all?

To be honest, mine was a discounted one from CEX, and I had to go back for a power lead for the controller which they forgot to include. I didn't think it came with a sensor bar too! But mine came with MK pre installed too, so that was a bonus...

I ended up ordering the Black 1 with Mario Kart & Zelda so that my lil cuzs that are coming over for a few days LEAVE ME ALONE just hope nothing is missing and it's actually working.

(STILL APPEARS IN STOCK)

Isn't that for people that had already installed haxchi on 5.5.1? Or is there a very new method I have not seen yet?

Edit: just had a google and found it thanks for heads up...couple of my mates will be happy as their consoles auto updated

Where would be the best/safest place to sell one. I have the Zelda one but Game etc only offer same price as plain one.

I got one of these in the £89.99 GAME deal (no games). I got fairly lucky I think as the game pad was near new condition. The console unit was right at 'fair condition', the odd mark but nothing visible when the console is in its place. Didn't come in any original packaging but came with everything included. Haven't needed to set up the sensor bar so far so happy with that

I'm surprised how much I've used mine in a month. Playing Wind Waker through to completion currently. Picked up a sealed Breath of the Wild on eBay at £35 delivered so starting that very soon.

If you're wanting to tinker with your console, modding, adding emulators etc. the Wii U is great fun, and adds even more value. This morning I was playing the Super Mario All-stars + Super Mario World snes title, playing it on Nintendo hardware makes it just that little bit more authentic. Playing away from the tv is the icing on the cake.

Still running 5.5.1E and run mine online..my preference. I've got DO NOT auto update checked and so far no problem. But good to hear of progress with 5.5.2. If you're debating getting a Switch @ £280 with no games, maybe take a look at a used Wii U first. You could do far worse.

Unless you block with DNS settings your WiiU will update itself regardless of the settings.
