Ignore the naysayers, i had the Wii U on a few days ago for a blast of MK8, and it's still fully populated online, i never once waited for a game, lots of fun, and no pay wall to play online on the U, and you can play on a tv or on the pad, so grab the U, and MK8, Mario Maker abd Pikmen 3 for £108.....and no worries about joycon drift either.

Heat, blue shell maddening heat.

Oh and did i add you can play Wii games on it as well.

Should I get one?
Voted hot. Tempted to get a second unit as a spare.
I honestly don't know why this is hot.
These are discounted models, which means they are in rough shape.

Any simple search on Ebay and you can pick these up in great condition, often even boxed in very good condition for between 80-90 GBP. So I would certainly say shop there.
This has been in my CEx basket for a few months at £78. I assumed that was the normal price. Prices are currently hot on eBay so you may want to wait buying from there unless you see a great deal or, which is my preference, visit somewhere like CEx in person & ask for the best they have at your price point. The 'discount' grading can be anywhere from barely used to barely usable depending on the person grading it.

I'm seeing loads sold on Ebay with more for anywhere from 60 - 80.

Just to add i'm not saying the Wii u console is bad, I love it. I use mine all the time.

Trust me, I've had them all on my watch list! I've been trying to buy a Wii U for a few weeks & the ones near £60 tend to have issues, like the touchscreen not working (seriously!) or scratches on the gamepad screen . Those that seem to be reasonable quality but unboxed are usually slightly more & £15 postage (seems a set eBay shipping price). That bumps the price close to £80 & with zero warranty. Boxed complete versions start at circa £100 plus p&p, which is the same as a boxed, 2yr warranty version from CEx. I'm not saying that there's no bargains but since the Music Magpie deal the other week the prices have risen. Even 8GB versions are fetching a lot more.

I'm not trying to stop anyone buying one or being otherwise nefarious, it is just a remark about a trend I have observed & how a purchase in person, backed by a warranty, might be worth a look.

Last Nintendo I owned was a the Wii. I loved it. Been looking at the switch but can't really justify the price of games.

Wii U is a great console but got a lot of hate - it's worth ignoring the haters of the console. Games like Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon still have active communities, games like Wii Sports Club not so much though. A lot of Wii U games ported to the Switch are cheaper on the Wii U (physical copies, not digital). Wii games will play on Wii U, not GameCube games though. I recommend picking one up if you don't want to pay Switch prices for the console and the games

Mario Kart 8.
Mario Bro U.
Mario maker.
Super Mario 3d.
Pikmen 3.

To name a few off the top of my head....and f you bought them all from cex now they would cost you £56, so along with that £78 U that would come to £135 quid to round it up.........can't even buy a Switch lite for that never mind a whole system with games.

Any games you would recommend? I LOVED the game cube. Played Mario football growing up with my friends, screaming and cursing!! What a great game!! Good times.

Some Wii U games I recommend:

- Super Mario Maker

- Splatoon

- Mario Kart 8

- Mario Party 10 (better when playing with friends, though)

- Pepsi Max: The Game (wait, I just realised that game was not released!)

- Super Mario 3D World

- Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64 (available on Wii U)

Some great games there!! Thank you. Love Donkey Kong games! I really can't justify spending the money on a Switch!
Thanks again!
My 5 year old daughter has discovered our Wii U recently. She loves Super Mario 3D World, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8 and Yoshi’s Woolly World. It really was a decent console - just underpowered and poorly marketed by Nintendo. Although to be fair, they learned from a lot of their mistakes when it came to the Switch!

Might be a good time indeed! I think there are £1 max selling fees on eBay right now too, although that could be account specific.

Many things still work but I assume that discussion of them is frowned upon here. The Wii U does appear to be a remarkably versatile device though & the possibilities are mouthwatering for fans of certain 'things'.

Tokyo mirage sessions has sold better on the Wii u than switch because it's not censored but it's value has skyrocketed like lots of other Wii u games

And I'm sure the same will also happen to Wonderful 101 when the remaster is out.

I also have a digital copy of Xenoblade Chronicles via the vWiiU. What an impressive game for what it was when it first came out and still as good or better than many others these days.

I think if you’re ok with the controller design then that’s the way to go. I literally just spent nigh £500 on a switch with Super Mario U, Mario kart 8 and ghostbusters. So 2 wii U games and a ps3 game. Price is ridiculous and not much value to be honest.

Reminds me still have a used one one sitting in a box upstairs that I need to sell, good price this.
It’s worth buying just for Zelda windwaker and twilight princess hd!!
I recently got a Wii U from eBay and it's been a great buy.. Not requiring the television means I can play in bed. I have a 3DS but have basically stopped using it at home because the Wii U is so much better.

Good games?

Zelda: Ocarina of time, which I just finished after having gotten stuck 25 years ago!
Zelda: Majora's Mask
Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
Zelda: Skyward Sword
Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Plus all the Zeldas that were on other consoles such as the original Legends of Zelda, A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks...

I'm in the middle of playing through them all. Some are old friends that I enjoyed with my dad many years ago, some are new adventures that will always make me think of him.

I also have The Pinball Arcade, which is great fun if you like pinball games. This is especially true if you played them in the arcade in years past. There's quite a variety of genuine pinball tables that have been scanned and reproduced in great detail like The Addams Family and Terminator 2.

I haven't played much else yet as I've been on a Zelda streak however I tend to use Metacritic when I'm in the market for new games:
metacritic.com/bro…esc

I believe you can also softmod the Wii U to play Gamecube games as well.. The hardware and software to do it is already there, they just didn't 'switch' it on. I think the homebrew program is called Nintendon't.

Regardless, I think it's a great system and well worth the money but look on eBay as you'll often get extra games or controllers for the same price as CeX. I paid £90 several months ago but got 5 games and 2 Mario Kart racing wheels plus a 500gb hard drive on which to install games!
Can anyone comment on the 24 months warranty offered? Reading it here uk.webuy.com/site/terms/
It reads nicely. Having seen the inside of most Cex stores, I can't imagine "the customer always right" holds much weight...
