I think Currys PR department have just jumped onto the Morrison and Tesco's 3 wheeler bandwagon

Shame it's not likely to be nationwide - this is /almost/ at the right price for the wii U..£10 more off and i'd probably pick one up.

Few more months it will be there they should have launched at this price though, they might have sold a few then!

It's already cheap - go on, bite the bullet

Not Nationwide, my local Currys haven't had consoles in stock in months.

Fair enough.

Outside of individual retailer clearances/sales a price drop is not on the cards though.

not nationwide £269.99 in my local

This is a bargain. But is about as low as it will get until Nintendo decide to make another price drop (which they have said they won't any time soon). This is very close if not under the wholesale price, not many retailers are going to sell without making any money, or even worse, at a loss!

My Currys/Pcworld don't even sell games any more never mind consoles

They do sell games. You have to order them online and they delivery them to the store. So technically they do sell them.

I will buy as soon as it is £100.

It is an excellent console.

Wii U is immense. All these gamers hanging about waiting for further price drops are missing out. Support the system while it is alive.

Wonder if we should have a new category for store specific deals, maybe by region? Would help to filter out deals that are only available in certain stores that have one-off clearances. This is a great price but even if you live locally only one person can benefit from this as once it's gone it's gone. Nothing against this post in particular because it's a great price.

Great console. Wonderful 'old school' games like Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong in HD and the ability to play games remotely. Monster Hunter is terrific.

Might be a good time to buy - Mario Kart 8 in May will create some demand.

what's the next best price? where it is available?

Why is this so hot? It's a one off, no proof and someone else has confirmed if it even exists it's not nationwide.

Don’t do it......the Wii U is just a dust magnet (literally) and is a massive failure.

Over a year since launch and it's been totally forgotten about in the gaming world. Sony and Microsoft sold more consoles in 24 hours than Nintendo did in 9 months. Nintendo in fact sold only 5% of its yearly target.....what a joke.

You've actually just reminded me that I own one..........so I might fire it up tonight and then spend the next couple of hours trying to update it (due to the known network connection issues).

OK if you like 'wonderful old school' games (think 1980's) then get one and enjoy the only redeeming feature - the touchpad, but otherwise get a cheap PS3/Xbox 360, but preferably a PS4 and save up for a Super Wii in a couple of years time.

Troll much?

So the Wii U is everything you wanted and more......do me a favour. It's basically an overpriced Wii with an attached DS.

I’m no fanboy as I own all the latest consoles and the Wii U is the only one to seriously disappoint. Based on the HUKD mentality these days of buying anything that is cheap, I was just trying to give a long time users view.

Not everyone loves every console. Potential customers can and should consider both sides of actual owners opinions. Nothing wrong with not liking the system having actually played it (although no mention of the games played were mentioned or why it disappointed).

I think you are missing the point of the wii u....I'm no fanboy either and am also a long time user, I have the luxury of owning all the consoles, they all have strengths and weaknesses, the Wii U is not trying to compete with the XBox1 or the PS4, it is in a league of its own, if you enjoy Nintendo then the Wii U is for you, if you don't it's not, simple. Maybe you should sell yours to someone commenting on this deal if you aren't using it as I think there are people that would buy a second hand, hardly used console, maybe you need to look at your broadband connection if you're having network issues as mine works fine...

Don't talk boll0x. It's here to stay and Nintendo won't be worried. The 3DS was the biggest selling console of last year (apparently) so they won't be panicking and throwing the towel in just yet.

In fact, Pokemon 'Plus' and 'Minus' are rumoured for the Wii U.

With all due respect, LazyDonkey has expressed an opinion, one which a lot of games critics agree with. I don't have a Wii U, hence I came in here to look at the prices and opinions, but I'm on the fence about buying one.

I know there are those who appreciate Nintendo franchises and will love the few high quality games that come out, but the Wii U has genuinely performed well below Nintendo's own expectations, hence they officially lowered the standard price, and have lowered their financial forecasts as a result.

I would be tempted by a sub-£150 Premium bundle, and I'm still interested in the console, but to dismiss someone's opinions as trolling simply because they're 'negative' is silly.

It's also silly to advocate comments derived from personal opinion for a website that has a sole aim of alerting its users to potential bargains, no matter the promoted item.
