Not too bad if you want the two games included as they would normally cost you about £50 (so the console would only be £130).

This was £170 shortly before Xmas.

Breakdown of best prices atm are:
£16 for SMU
£30 for SSB
£140 Console
Total £186

Not much to be saved and ShopTo does get bad press on here.

I voted hot as it's money saved for those that want these 2 games but the same bundle has been cheaper and it could drop £10 at any time.

Just curious, where did you find SSB for £30? Been waiting for it to drop to the £30 mark for a while

I paid £190 for a 32GB with Mario Kart and Zelda in June so I don't see this as good.

considering xbox one and ps4 are now 250-300ish, the wii u needs to drop more to compete. its not like the hardare is cutting edge. surely they could sell it sub 150 and make a profit. Nintendo need to increase their customer base or they can write off this gen of console.

p.s. ive got an xbox one myself but if the wii u drops sub 150 I'll probably get it. it would just pain me to pay what they are asking for it now when tech wise its relatively old hat.

From Tesco? That was £199.99.

The uninformed assume the Wii U is a failing console, it actually has more of a draw now than ever.

It undoubtably could do with another price drop but they've built up a demand and if Nintendo can bite their tongue then people like myself will just have to commit and buy it at £140.

The ps4 and Xbox one price drops have absolutely no baring on the Wii U so they should not be dropping the price in line with that but rather the recent suggestion that a new Nintendo console will be released soon and this may be the last 'priority' year for the Wii U.

I don't mind buying into a dying console but it's price should represent that.

I tried to buy this on 3 separate computers yesterday, each time I went to view basket the page wasn't available, not sure if this bundle actually exists...

Here is your mouth, so where is your money?

Don't buy a basic system. Good for absolutely nothing. Nintendo have generally been good with backwards compatibility however with games now being in the region of 10gb + the memory on this will be redundant out of the box. Yes you can expand it but then you're going to be paying more than the deal price anyway. If you're going to buy a Wii U I wouldn't look at anything else other than the one with the bigger HDD

White Basic consoles are perfectly fine. If you plan on downloading big games, you'll need a USB HDD sooner rather than later on the 32GB Premium model too. So it makes such little difference, just buy the colour and/or prices you prefer.

Due to having a white tv stand I too think the basic console suits me and looks better. Plus £150 at argos plus mariokart 8 for £33 from amazon = £183 deal which is what I'd prob go for.

Also I washed my hands with Nintendo 12 months ago but they have pulled out all the stops and released some amazing games over the last 10 months making the wii u a very desirable machine. My games to play have to be
Mario 3d world
bayonetta 2
Mariokart 8
Super smash bros!

Which you have to by an External Hard drive for anyway as its 32gb.

Your post is irrelevant if you just want the machine.

If i had to keep one console it would be the Wii U loads of fun to be had with this.

There isn't a bigger version on the market? Day one purchase of a Wii U, surely the larger hard drive option is the only way to go to future proof you as much as possible.

I absolutely love my Wi-U but this excites me. If Nintendo feel the need to compete directly with PS4 and X1 and potentially release a console more powerful then I'm in!

Having said that I have never felt that the Wii-U is under powered. All the games I have played have looked great, but then I've only played first party games and Bayonetta 2.

Depends on who's using it. Why would someone only plays disc games need it? There was a recent deal for a 32GB USB pen drive for £4. There's a deal for a 1TB USB HDD in Staples for £29 right now. In retrospect, do you think saying the Basic is "Good for absolutely nothing" was just a tad (note: completely) OTT?

You cant future proof 32gb as is about 27gb or less after the OS

You need to buy external hard drive either way so buying a basic model is a non issue

Hmmm, how strange...maybe shopto just doesn't like me!

Be Careful with SHOPTO they decided to tell my on the 23rd dec my sons wii wasn't coming after a month waiting, it was the same package but for £159.99.

Good for you. You buy digitally you need a external hard drive.

Also no game installations. Even 500gb on X1 and PS4 is not enough

The majority of people will still buy physical copies of the games and will not be power users of the services available to them. If you wanted to download absolutely everything available and do so for a long period of time then yes you would need external storage. I would probably say that for 60/70% of Wii U owners, buying the basic machine would leave them short within a year whereas the 32gb version would certainly be more than enough for the long haul. It's totally down to each person but a lot of people will See Wii U & the price and not understand the specs and feel short changed in the future. Important to avoid this. In the 5 years I spent working for GAME, not one person came in for a console and immediately wanted to buy an external hard drive to go with it and most did not understand the different capacities available.

Gone up to £189.85

With the 32GB model, I had loads of VC and indie games installed before eventually needing more capacity (wonderful 101 digital version took me over the line) - this took over a year for me. It'll take a while to fill up the 32GB model.

Having said that, now that the Nintendo Network Premium promotion is over there's no longer much incentive to take the Premium model over the Basic. The cost savings with opting for the Basic are rather high.

Fair enough but what about full retail games? That was my point but I get yours too

You won't fit many in there for full retail games but you can fit in nice ones like Zelda WindWaker HD and Pikmin 3. Think NSMBU is pretty smallish too. Power users would be getting an external HDD anyway of some kind.
