Seems like a good deal for a phone with 32gb of internal storage, a fingerprint scanner, nfc and 3gb of ram. Usual price is £189.99. Champagne Gold is the only colour available at this discounted price. A very attractive looking phone in my opinion.

Here's the full blurb

I've actually ordered this phone myself as seems a lot of phone for the price.

I was planning on waiting for the Moto G5 but lack of NFC has put me off. I guess the only slight negative with this phone is that the screen is only 720p but for most people including myself I believe that will be perfectly adequate. Will help battery life also.

It's currently running Marshmallow with Cyanogen. Nougat is on it's way and with the next os update Cyanogen will be replaced with a purer version of android.

Customer support statement December 2016

Our OS Strategy and Software plan moving forward will be complete soon. We have agreed a smooth transition where we will continue deliver constant and consistent software and OS updates. Our plan is to bring our entire Wileyfox portfolio onto Android N, the latest version of Google Android’s OS, in a timely manner – while still continuing to protect the range with Google software security updates.

I can understand some people wanting a 1080p screen but for the money I don't see how you can call this deal stone cold.

The specs are pretty damn good at this price point. Good camera, fingerprint scanner, attractive design, NFC, dual sim and 3gb of ram. Nougat update in the pipeline.

If you know of a better spec phone from a UK seller at this price point then please share.

Recombu awarded this phone best budget buy of 2016 and that was at the original £189.99 asking price.

Then why open you metaphorical mouth? Either try to say something useful or don't say anything at all. If we want baseless assertions we now have an all-you-can-stomach torrent of nonsense coming direct from the White House, there's no need for everyone else to start.

I paid this price for the swift 2 last month and still using the original swift as well. great price for a decent phone

Or me I somehow doubt you could as there aren't any :P

hot from me... considering I paid same for moto 3rd gen 18mths ago and it's ****

i don't need the extra ram or memory so I'm holding back for the Nokia 5 for now. this might be cheaper still by then too.

I bought this (black, bundle version) in Dec – Love the phone, has a premium feel, excellent build quality and just can’t beat it for the spec:

• 32gb – Most people will not need a memory card.
• NFC – Can use google pay and easily connect to Bluetooth devices with NFC.
• Second Sim – Put a cheap PAYG on a different network and you’ll probably always be able to make/receive calls.
• Quick charge 3.0 - 75% power in 45 minutes!
• Fingerprint sensor – no more typing in a pin.
• WileyFox case and screen replacement card.
• UK Company.

If anyone knows a better phone for the spec, then please tell.

I just don’t know why the price fluctuates so much. I’d set up a price alert for the bundle version.

As this is not the bundle not voting hot or cold.

does this phone come with a screen protector fitted? my original swift did.

Recombu is a tech review site. I posted a link to their unboxing video if you check.

Nice attitude you have there by the way. The purpose of this website is for us to help each other to find good deals on products we're interested in. Not to boast you know a better deal and refuse to tell anyone.

Hmmmm not sure about that. I would imagine they would cost no more than a couple of quid off eBay or Amazon if one was not provided.

so tempted by this deal. just don't know whether it's a big enough step up from my original swift.

Ah sod it, you only live once.

Thanks MDL199 for the heads up on this.

Cheapest it's been since release according to Camelcamelcamel too.

I got a hold of one of these second hand for 100 and it was mint. I spent a few days testing it for a friend and it was far better than I expected. You are not going to do better than this for the price unless you want to take the chance of a Chinese phone.

How is the camera like on this phone?

Good in good light, poor in poor light. Pretty much what you would expect from the price point.

You won't get better for the price. This phone only launched a few months and will get nougat soon apparently.

Enjoy your phone. I ordered one too plus already have a Xiaomi coming from China. Think i've got an addiction :-)

My swift 2 from Amazon i bought last week did, so seems likely (?)

love people that keep going on about this 720p V 1080p screen !! we use little 5" or 5.5" screens , there is no bloody difference with the clarity of the screen , it's a figment of your imagination .

I've mentioned it previously on several other handset threads, but I'm very pleased with my Doogee X5 Pro that I bought on eBay (UK business seller) a few months ago for ~£60. Very respectrable specs and a lot of bang-for-your-buck - I see no reason for paying more (in a lot of cases considerably more) unless getting a handset with a 1080p screen.

I've had the regular Doogee X5 and for the money it's fine. I know the X5 pro is better but in no way does it come close to this phone. If it suits your needs though that's fine.

At one third the cost you wouldn't really expect the X5 Pro to be a competitor, but people might like to check the specs and ask themseleves if they really need to pay 3 times the amount.

Just an update to Cyanogen software and yes definitely do it. Cheers :-)

Edited to add - This is probably the very last Cyanogen update. Wileyfox will be going stock Android with the next big software update that should include Nougat. The update is supposed to be by the first quarter of the year, so hopefully the next few weeks.

Hi mate

Could you please check to see if the Ambient display feature works on your Swift 2 plus?

You can find the option under display and lights in settings.

Its supposed to wake the phone up to show you any unread notifications when you pick it up. It is working on mine but not every time. I've tweeted wileyfox and they say to arrange a replacement however I thought I would see if you have the same issue beforehand.

Cheers in advance

Hi there I've only just set my phone up as was waiting on a new SIM card.

This is not a feature I'd probably bother with but just tried it by sending a text from another phone. It worked 3 times but once it didn't. I put it down and picked it up again and it worked. Software rather than hardware glitch possibly or maybe the movement of picking up the phone has to be more dramatic? Maybe a reboot might help? I've only used it for a couple of hours and quite impressed so far.

If you're not happy with it however u cud always try sending it back for a replacement phone.

Good luck :-)

So yours worked but not consistently? As you say it's not a feature I'll use really as my phone is in a case, just my ocd kicking in lol.

Other than that, really impressed with the phone, nice look and feel, 100% quicker than the original Swift, just an all around good egg lol!

Glad you're liking the phone, i am too.

I think any feature that relies on a sensor can be hit and miss. I've had air view on Samsung phones where u swipe without touching the phone and that's always been hit and miss or my old Moto G where u twist yr wrist to fire up the camera and that's hit and miss too.

I imagine the faster the momentum u pick the phone up with the more likely it is to activate. It worked 9 out of 10 times for me.

Remember you have 12 months warranty so if anything got worse which i doubt it will you could grab your money back.

Cheers :-)

Thanks for your reply pal.

So does the screen wake up when you pick it up only when you have unread notifications or does the screen wake even when you don't have any?

Also does it wake to a black and white dimmed display or to the home screen upon picking it up?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get a handle on the workings of ambient display as the wording in the settings menu is a little ambiguous to say the least.

Really not wanting to return the phone as it's definitely one that punches well above it's weight.

Bloody OCD!

Original Poster

I assume it's when there is unread notifications i only tried it after i sent myself a text. I don't have the feature on anymore.

I very much doubt there is anything wrong with yours it's just the sensor not being triggered by more subtle movements. I have got one of those Xiaomi fit bands and the display is supposed to come on when you raise your arm but it only is guaranteed to work when i bring my arm up fast. If i do it slowly or with little movement it doesn't work. It's not a fault as if it responded to every slight movement the battery would drain. I suspect that's the same with the phone.

Cheers :-)
