Found 30th Oct 2015
Iv been recommended by many friends that wilko Lego is exactly like the real Lego.
I popped to Wilko's today and couldn't believe the already great prices and also now got half price discount on many items.
All single vehicles and animals £1
Medium play set £4
And the big ranges - pirate boat, military vehicle and dino down to £7- normally £14
Base plates £3.50
And even pick and mix loose Lego bricks

Hmmmm I have bought cheap 'Lego compatible' blocks before and they are not very good ! They don't fit together as well

We have had these and they really are not as good as Lego. My boys find it much harder to get them to click together, so the frustration builds up. The mini-figures do not sit well in regular Lego either. In my experience, if you have a Lego lover, they'll be disappointed when they see these (because they're not Lego), and also when they try to build, because the quality just isn't there. Steer clear of "Block Tech" too, which is sold in B&M :-(
Please don't buy your kids cheap bricks as you can really tell the difference. You can buy Lego by weight on Ebay so its not that expensive these days. Can you imagine your childs face lighting up on Christmas morning if they open a box of cheap bricks? I cant but even secondhand Lego always pleases and they can add to the set as Lego is always compatible no matter the age.Sorry if I sound a snobby moo but some products you cant scrimp on and this is one
I agree with the above. I think it may have been blok tech I bought , got it in the range. Anyway it was hard to put together properly. We then bought a massive box of second hand Lego on eBay with all the instruction manuals etc and it's been fab kids play with it all the time!
Iv had cheap copies before and agree half of it didn't even fit together. But these seem much better. Especially as it's for my 3yr old who wants to be like his older brother - but not prepared to spend £30-£40 on one Lego present for a 3year old
Hmm I done the same tho and bought the cheaper one for my youngest and he just got frustrated as it didn't click together well. Maybe try Lego juniors?
Wilko source from different manufactures so the quality is variable but it seems to be a lot better recently. Some of their models come from the most respected third party block makers so you can't just write it all off as rubbish.

I recently picked up the tank for £7 and space rocket for £12 and they are really very good for the money, not quite up to lego but immeasurably better than some of the mishapen and malformed rubbish that's out there. I've also had the ice cream van £2, the tanker lorry £2, the panda and the crocodile £1 each and they have all been very respectable and a massive bargain when price is taken into consideration. This is all in contrast to a wilko set I bought many years ago that was absolutely terrible.

Not all third party blocks are made equal, you can pick up decent sets in poundland if you do some research.

Depends if they were decent or not but generally yes because I teach my kids to be grateful and to not screw their nose up on the basis of brand names.
They are NOT lego compatible!! They are not even wilko blocks compatible. I bought a few cheap sets last year and took them all back as the bricks would not even stick to the others in the box.

Thanks for this. Iv also got the tank and smaller pieces
no the wilko stuff is horrid, the wheel axles all break. It's the worst.
If you want "like lego" then kreo is the closest thing, but not that much cheaper, strangely
