only problem with bamboo is that it’s pretty porous and you literally need to bleach it down after every use

perfect breeding ground for bacteria 🦠

heat added though

I don't think the Asda chopping board is 2cm thick as the Wilko one is.

Great read!
Had got the asda bamboo chopping boards, develop black mold spots after few usage, was a set of two and only left back to back for drying... is this the issue with bamboo boards?
Thanks op. Have had this board for 5 years and its still going strong. Bought 2 cheap ones from ikea which I treated with mineral oil first- splintered after first use. Only used it like a cheese board. Any ideas on what I did wrong?

I have these too. Well only one and it needs replacing! You have to let it dry throughly all the way through before putting it away as it does get ugly and becomes prone to cracking. Putting it back to back with another board doesn't allow air to pass between them hence why its gone mouldy.
This is made out of multiple bamboo pieces and eventually the cracks appears after several use, but it is environmentally friendly and degradable, also better option than the plastic chopping board (toxic ) that harms not only our health but also environment,,,

I might be missing a trick here, but let me see if I get this right: if you buy this in shop it normally costs £5, and if you buy it online for collection in shop, even though it's discounted, you still pay more for it than not rezerving it at £5.75 :/
