I do (said a voice from above the parapet) - Not when it was originally released at the "moving picture house" though. Quality comedy never gets forgotten easily;-)

I remember(Age 33) them and their great films, They used to always show them on a Saturday afternoon in the late 70's early 80's, I liked the one where it was set in a haunted castle CLASSIC, I think some of the "Carry On" stars appeared in some of these movies too, Great deal if you like the old Carry On, St Trinians, George Formby type movies.

I have this "The Will Hay Collection is a nine-disc box containing the following films: Ask a Policeman / Boys Will Be Boys Oh, Mr Porter! / Convict 99 Old Bones of the River / Where There's a Will Good Morning Boys / Hey! Hey! USA! Windbag the Sailor "

Many thanks for the link .............just ordered the box set . Been after some of Will Hay's films for years .I've just turned 50 and can STILL remember watching him as a kid . cheers

I'm 31 and have loved Will Hay for about 10 years! Ask a Policeman and O Mr. Porter are absolute classics - pure comedy GOLD!

I bought a 17 disc set from ebay for about 8 quid but they weren't DVD quality - most of them were captures.

Voted Hot btw!

Voted hot..Supreb set of films...As everyone else has said used to watch these on a wet weekend by the fire..and I'm only young and remember them, you gotta be something like 10 if you don't remember these classics..

Ask a policeman is a fantastic film! Been a fan of Will Hay since early teens (am now 22!).

The boxset doesn't have the ghosts of st michaels and a couple others though since it was made as a collaboration between 2 film companies :-(

Shame it hasn't got "Where's that fire". Its a very difficult to film to find, its in the public domain and I got a copy from ebay but the quality is **** and a section is missing from the middle of the film.

Will Hay films are excellent and he deserves far more recognition.

Where's That Fire? and Windbag The Sailor are another couple of good ones. I love it in Where's That Fire? when they arrive to put out the fire at a petrol station and mistakingly connect the fire hoses to the pertol supply and completely burn down everything in site. :-D

...and don't forget a further 6% off with Quidco.

6% Quidco is also available - takes the price down to £2.78.

i too am a will hay fan,

I'm 25 and have an appreciation for this type of cinema. Already have the full box set.

Will Hay films, along with a lot of the artists of the time used to get played a lot on TV right up until the 70's and a bit in the 80's.

It's good to see that there's still a generation growing up to appreciate this sort of thing, inspite of this sort material being almost nonexistant on TV nowadays.

Now to really surprise me...is there a woman that likes Will Hay?

This is my first posting been on this site lots
but never registered, just had to .In answer to the question is there a woman out there that likes Will Hay,well i love him not as much as Moore Marriott though he just makes the films so funny, dont forget the fat one either, i will be buying this!!!!!:-D

OMG, brilliant! I was thinking it was one of those bloke only things.

You're right, Moore Marriott was fantastic and for me the funniest in it. Surprisingly, Marriott was only 3 years older then Hay and they both (coincidentally) died in 1949.

Thanks for info ReD On Red yep the old ones are definately the best the best bit for me is when they both share the same woman in Oh Mr Porter! cheers

Count me in as a Will Hay fan, great films!

i'm 25 and own all Will Hay films released on dvd one of the funniest trio i have seen in films - the old guys dad in ask a policeman's riddle is worth buying for alone- SUperb deal

Lol, I like the scene in Windbag The Sailor when they regain consciousness aboard the ship they're on and are trying to work out exactly where they are. Moore Marriott says in a high voice "well, I know we turned left when we came out of the harbour". Classic!

I am in my mid-30's and I remember Will too, along with Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, L & H, and Charlie Chaplin - ALL great actors.

Theres a director missing from that list but can't remember his name. Same era made his own films.

W.C Fields it was.

Marx Brothers are the obvious choice too.

You don't need to be old to remember Will Hay. He's influenced a lot of people, who in turn have influenced a lot more people. Vic Reeves is a fan, Dad's Army took a bit form Will Hay's comedys too. some of his is surreal humour could probably be found to have influenced current favourite the Boosh even.

There's a book due out this year hopefully tomahawkpress.com/tom…tml If you want more info there is a Will Hay Yahoo Group movies.groups.yahoo.com/gro…ll/

I've already got the box set, but this is a real bargain, and to echo an earluer post it's a shame these films aren't shown anymore.
