If you buy a Windows key from a company called Nokeys and it goes pear shape you will be left with No Key. You were warned.

just use a windows 7 or 8.1 key

any pro or ultimate works i used a anytime upgrade win 7 key and it worked fine,

and before anyone says it no longer works just try it your be surprised. i have keys but they must only be used on win 7 oem machines. willing to share but ms now only allow 1 activation per key (win 10 only)

or Google a keyg*n for win 7.

Hmmm, anyone know anything about this lot, dont wanna be having to fork out for a new one of these in 6 months?
Get one off eBay for £5. If it doesn’t work they will send you another or you could then go through eBay as they are officially meant to send you a broken motherboard that the code is linked to
A bit of a five bob note, you might as well use a torrent

I know I do this for a job and its still a 5 bob note
I got a Windows 10 Education key for £2 from eBay. It's worth looking

The key still works now. And yes it's a personal key not a shared one

First step for me if I'm upgrading a PC to windows 10 is check if the existing windows 7/8 key works (use Belarc Advisor to find it), if it's an OEM key it probably won't but always worth a try, otherwise a £5 key off ebay does the trick.

When you look at the codes on eBay they say something along the lines of “you will get a faulty motherboard also as this is required under eBay terms and conditions”

It looks cheaper …It looks cheaper herehttp://www.electronicfirst.com/gift-cards/windows-10-professional-oem/?

Says sold out though.
Probably MSDN keys.
any way I bought one and I will see
I know these cheap keys are always from a dodgy source and I used to constantly post comments on these threads about how you shouldn't buy them but as a test... I bought one from ebay about 8 months ago and the key has since been tied to my Microsoft account, I've reformatted my machine a few times since then and each time it has activated without issue.

Take from that what you will but I feel these keys are pretty safe and if MS did ban them all at some point assuming it's even possible for them to do that, you've only lost a few quid - plus it's better to place liability on the person you bought it from rather than resorting to outright piracy.

Building a new computer soon so this will be very useful!

Do you mean "nine bob note"?
Billingsgate market smells less fishy than this
It's an MSDN key, when Microsoft catches up with the account, the key stops working. It's usually long enough for you not to notice (or be able to leave bad feedbcak) and long enough for the seller to have made a fair few quid on this without repercussions on eBay.

Anyone who is convincing themselves in their head that this is legit is simply tricking themselves - it's no more legit than Bittorrent. Microsoft doesn't actively pursue it as it's not worth it, they could easily stop the OS from booting but this way round, more people have Windows on their systems and they can say things like 'it's the most widely used operating system' (even if many copies are pirated).
COLD cheaper on ebay.
I find it bizarre that anyone would consider buying a dodgy key. If you're going to go down this route, why even pay?
This is not an especially good price, generally £4/5 on eBay. This is no more legit so why pay extra?
Guys. Go on eBay and you can pick these up for as little as £3. They're OEM keys that get recycled from old business computers. It's completely legal and these are genuine keys. Been doing this for 6+ years. Only annoying thing is if you change your motherboard, your digital licence doesn't carry over and you have to purchase a new one. But for £3 you don't mind it.

In theory it shouldn't ever happen as you can resell oem keys in europe. if the hash, is changed too much then you just call ms .. rather than getting a new key ..

I suspect theres more than one hash, and the cpu/mobo elements can be change without issue, as long as you use the same other components for a week or two
Bit of a related newbie question; I want to install Windows 10 on my iMac so I’ll have a dual boot system. I don’t have any existing windows os config. Am I able to download a Windows 10 ISO file and get an OEM code from somewhere?
I can only imagine someone from this site is making a lot of money out of this deal.

Thanks for the tip. I bought one for £4 today from eBay. Not tried it yet but the guy had good reviews. So how does it work if they've been registered to previous PCs but then you register it on your PC (which is a different motherboard) but then you can't carry it over yourself if you change motherboard?

Update: The eBay code worked like a charm, thanks!
