Apparently the Windows 7 full version price will remain till January. Amazon lists it at £65 (I knwo there are £50 offers here and there). But even if you dont pre-order apparently you can get it for the slightly more realistic price of £64.98 til Jan 2010. Link below has some news

Nice to see that we'll be getting it cheaper than the americans!

I thought the 'upgrade' version still works like a fresh install and not an upgrade (in the EU) or did i miss anything.

No, you're referring to Windows 7 E, which is the full retail edition in the EU, but excludes IE8

Amazing what writing full (not upgrade) can do.

Even though all the EU editions are full.

They've scrapped the EU "E" edition ... so those who have pre-ordered the "E" edition will be getting the full edition. There is no upgrade SKU for the EU/UK market. you can perform a fresh install. There will be a browser "ballot" offering you a choice of web browsers to install.

At the time of this edit, Win7 is now £63.99 at Amazon.

Do tell.....

Suspect it was a special pre-order with a voucher ... mine was £44.99 when it was still "E".

argos were doing it for £45 and you could use a 10% off voucher on preorders which takes £4.50 off and i think i may have got the tiny bit of vat off too, but £40.50 is near enough! there have been so many oportunities to get this for £45 and under.

i like how the guy who started this same topic the first time said

which makes no sense! not quite as good as the £50 offer that has been on which he must have seen or read about to know that it has been on but his £65 deal is better than the £50 one!! makes no sense! maybe thats why his was cold!

Is it not all down to the stages of the release of this OS? The first to pre-order in mid July got the best deal at around £45.00 (minis vouchers etc) And I now believe we are at another stage of it's pre-release and has gone up to £65.00.

It looks like a case of early bird catching the cheaper windows 7 worm?

Just because its the best price for the item dosent mean its a deal..

Well thats a stupid comment isn't it...

so if you apply your logic the following would be true:?

"I see Mercedes are selling there top of the range S class for 80% off, brings the price down to £10,000"

you would then reply:

"i'm voting this cold as you can get a Fiat Panda for £8,000"

DOH

I am hearing a lot of good reports regarding this OS, so for people that do not run Ubuntu and prefer the Microsoft product then this soulds like a good deal. After all it's the full product and as far as I am aware does not rely on another version of windows to install.

People that are running Vista currently may be able to uninstall and sell it S/H? Not sure if that would work but it could cut the cost of this new software.

Have tested the RC 1 version and is a lot better than Vista, runs faster too, again depends on if you are a Linux or Windows person...

If its an OEM copy you can't its linked to a piece of hardware such as you motherboard!

Read the T&C's another microsoft license to print money!

Hi, Given this a miss as spent far too much on M$ products. Still like XP admittedly. Don't particularly like Vista, much prefer Ubuntu and Linux Mint which cost nothing to download legitimately and are very good in fairness. Not voting either way.

That annoys me,

I have paid for my upgrade from oem XP to Retail Vista, I have now pre-ordered the full version of Windows 7. I should have the right to sell my upgrade version of Vista as it is no longer attached to any PC.

Grrrrrrr!!! :x

supermod

Price has now been reduced by 99p - thanks for the information anteater_sa

I spotted the price reduction yesterday, on the first page - favouritism!

I've been running Windows 7 Ultimate now for about 3 weeks and much prefer it to Vista. My Laptop boots up much quicker and generally seems to run smoother.

Just an FYI
Pre-order Price Guarantee: order now and if the Amazon.co.uk price decreases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lowest price.

One of the reasons to order from Amazon I would have thought!! Safe bet, plus could be cheaper!

Cheers

surely this deal is better being £4 cheaper AND you will have a Vista upgrade OS to sell

well it is really. the only thing is that the terms of the deal above are bit unclear... but Its still a good deal!! My deal was purely there to highlight the fact that the price is going to remain the same till Jan 2010 really!! Pple were all rushing to grab pre-orders and stuff.., so just to kinda reduce that frenzy!

So just because you got it cheaper 'x' weeks ago, it's cold? Some people just dont get this whole HotUKDeals thing.

I've only checked a few sites, but so far Amazon seems to have the cheapest current price. Yes, I got it for £45 a few weeks ago on Amazon, but do you realise the £40-50 prices were pre-order PROMOTIONS? Ie, each store only had a certain number of pre-order stock they could sell at that price. After that, they sell at the 'standard' pre-order price.

If you can find it cheaper elsewhere right now then yeah, it's cold. Don't vote cold just 'cos you got it cheaper weeks ago when a promotion was running.
