This deal has been posted before, but quite some time ago, I have just noticed it is still available, and you can upgrade from Windows XP.

I know Windows 8 is not for everyone, but for the "must have's" out there why not save a whole heap of money

Its worth Noting that hardware spec has been reduced from previous versions which is great if you want to bring some aged hardware out of hibernation and bring it into the 21st Century, see specs below;

Windows 8 system requirements
If you want to run Windows 8 on your PC, here's what it takes:

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2 (more info)

RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)

Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver

MAKE SURE YOU SELECT "Nothing" when the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant asks you what to keep, this is how we get a full disk instead of an upgrade.

Also, Windows Media Center Pack FREE before the end of the month.

Need minimum 1366 × 768 screen resolution
- fluidz

Sorry Fluidz, I dont agree, I have tested and installed on a 1024x768 resolution laptop, and it works fine

Don't forget your free ebook "Windows 8 for Dummies - Pocket Edition"

Gari189

fluidz and Gari both correctish
"The minimum resolution that Windows 8 Metro style apps can run is 1024x768... The resolution that supports all the features of Windows 8, including multitasking with snap is 1366x768." - you can't snap on the lower resolution, probably because you wouldn't want to anyway.

If You upgrade to windows 8 i recommend to use app called Classic Shell to make it look like either win7, vista or winxp.
Must have app:)

I tried to warn people about this a week ago, ended up getting minus 350 degree's.

Most people are going to vote this cold simply because its Microsoft or they are too dum to know how to install a "start button"

Hot from me, but people are going to vote this cold.

Showing at £189.99 here, Wow

No one will ever upgrade to this OS, once this deadline passes.

Is there now a way to revert to 'User selection' screen on startup? As I understand it Win8 automatically logs in user who shut-down the PC, which would be annoying in a multi-user setup. Thanks.
I bought at this price not because I love Windows 8, but because I guessed I would need it someday (even if only to get a cheap upgrade to Windows 9).

Word of advice: if you have win7 don't install win8.

Or at least create a system image restore so that you can uninstall and go back. I made a HUGE mistake and I can't go back...
Quite a good deal if your upgrading from Vista. Once you get a program that gets your start menu back it's not that much different from windows 7. They are also offering a free media centre upgrade with windows 8.
you can still get the free media centre upgrade code too... has to be applied before 31 Jan though
Is there a way to get a cheap proper version of win8 rather than the upgrade ver8?

I know about the fresh/double install trick but would rather have a proper version at the right price.

Thanx
If Microsoft produce another crap version of Windows people will flock to Mac OS.

Chance is they'll fix things in Windows 9.

I agree, personally I only like it when using a touch screen or mouse, I find using it on a tracker pad on a laptop just seems hard work. On my laptop I have installed the "classic shell"

How many time does this need to be posted? There have been 'deals' posted for this numerous times since it released in october.
Currently running Windows 7, quite tempted to upgrade to Windows 8 though.

Quick question, will upgrading essentially reformat my laptop? And what's the general train of thought when it comes to Windows 8? I don't want to upgrade and regret the decision but I like the thought of keeping up to date.

Many thanks for any replies.
