Windows Connect 10" Tablet, Intel Atom, 1GB RAM, 32GB - Black

at Tesco online

I accept this is a "deal" in the sense of being a discounted price so I'm not voting cold, but I had the 8 inch version of this (near if not completely identical innards) and it was not good.

Probably acceptable as a first tablet but if you've used anything half decent before (eg ipad, sony or samsung) then I'd be surprised if you didn't hate it. Poor resolution. Sluggish.

It is of course Windows (unlike the examples I gave) which is why I bought it, but the OS didn't redeem a poor piece of kit.

My experience of my HP stream 7 which similarly is near identical specs other than being a 7 inch screen rather than 10 is that it's more than adequate for web browsing, some light typing tasks, low end games and using it as an e-reader.

Yes it's slow to load up more intensive things but overall I wouldn't complain for the sort of price you can get them for. It's certainly not Galaxy Tab but then you can get several and come away with change for the price of a Galaxy or similar.

You know your posts would actually be useful if you copied and pasted the resolution to the original deal listing along with the rest of the specs.

I won't get any likes from doing that.

I didn't realise it was a popularity contest. But you'd at least achieve the editor badge

If the spec is right, the Linx 10 has double the RAM which can make quite a difference so you seemed to have done well (depends if you bought new or refurb, etc. - was it the 3monkeys deal)?

Instead of arguing you could have done that...

Pretty sure the same factory is churning these out. Very similar design. This does have a full size usb though, which is nice..

You're most likely right - in which case it has 2GB RAM. The versatility of full-Windows tablets is pretty amazing, unless you need the apps in which case Android or iOS is better, or something like the Chuwi Hi8 dual-boot.

it's the versatility which piqued my interest, i envisage a kodi/miracast unit to play stuff off my nas on various TVs where i don't have media access.

Eh? If you need the apps get the Windows tablet. Can run any Windows app on there rather than the infinite fart-apps on iOS/Android.

If the CPU really is a Z3735G, maximum memory is 1Gb.

I mean games and stuff that's Android/iOS specific - there's still a lot of non-productivity apps out there that aren't available on Windows Mobile or Windows (x86).
My Linx 8 has just got worse and worse in terms of freezing since I updated to Win10. Don't do it!

Looking at the task manager the disk is at 100% whenever it freezes, and that means it's paging to the drive from RAM. And all I'm doing is reading Facebook on the Edge browser.

At some point I'm going to need to flash back to Win 8.1 - this is ridiculous.

You know you could have posted that information and not bothered to "argue" about my posting about not posting it.......

My comment is that they post the same information on most laptop and tablet deals and have done it ~80 times now, it doesn't really bring anything to the deal that people can use with it being buried in the comments and for most people the specs in the deal is actually quite useful. If you really want you can have a look and you'll soon see what I mean. Additionally, I didn't even go to the deal link as I've got no interest in the deal itself so did not know what the specs are, however I did read the comments and made constructive criticism around it.

You might want to have a dig in Task Manager to identify which process is pegging the disk. If that's all you're doing you've probably got some lovely third-party background app doing something it shouldn't be or some nasty adware/virus infection.

Turn off automatic store updates - it was crippling mine but it's fine now that it's off.
