As part of Gamestation's half price sale they're showing Windows Vista Home Premium for £59.99. It is out of stock on the website but it's possible this may be in stock instore if there's a Gamestation near you. Thought this was a pretty good price for it if you can get it. I know it's the upgrade version but Vista actually allows you to do a fresh install from the upgrade disc, although I'm sure most people have XP already anyway.

Good Price it's just a shame that nothing runs well on vista. Wait for service pack 3 for xp

seconded. Got my kids some new Dell PCs with Vista installed, and it's a pain in the ears (anag) compared to XPSP2. Only remarkable for the things it doesn't let you do any more. Slower than XP as well even with extra memory... something to do with all those fripperous visual effects I suspect.

(If frirpperous isn't a word it ought to be. )

I have Vista as an upgrade and you definitely do need an operating system to upgrade from. However, little trick if you have a copy of XP - install it, but don't validate it, then the Vista upgrade will go through and validate.

you can just upgrade vista over itself i.e. install the upgrade as a demo and install over the demo.

I dont think the deal is so cold after all, and mind you there are people out there that likes Vista.
However I have voted warm but I dont think I d buy it having heard its reputation.

**Wonders what would be the new Operating System from Microsoft lol

Deal is hot IMHO even if the product isn't some people's cup of tea!

I'm running Home Premium x64, absolutely love it!

They have no stock so I can’t take it seriously. If anyone buys it in-store then that’s a different story; anybody?

BTW, I understand that the retail upgrade versions don’t allow you to move your license to a different machine in the way that you can with a full retail version.
Can someone confirm this? If it’s true it makes this no better than an OEM version which is cheaper anyway. If you can move the license then it’s hot (if they have stock).

IMO Vista is comparable to Windows ME.
