I haven't taken any heat away but I wouldn't have Vista if they were giving it away in Lucky Bags!

Hmmmmmm..........

I have definitely seen this much, much cheaper but I can't find the link at the moment.

£195 for Vista is an awful lot - you can buy a full base unit with Vista Home installed for not much more than that. Granted, this is the ultimate edition, but still...........

:?

you seem to be heading for some sort of cool record!

I had to have vista with my new pc and can say that it totaly sucks, it has more compatibility issues then i can count its just wrong ! :x i feel much better now :-D

My laptop is much more stable now Vista has been installed.

Also, for cheapness buy OEM versions. Ultimate was about £140

OK, after a quick search in Google, I immediately managed to find Vista Ultimate retail FULL for $249 (£125). The UPGRADE is available for $189 (£95)

So I guess with a spare 15 minutes, it could be found from a UK retailer for about the same price.

Just do a google search for "vista ultimate cheap"

Really don't know what all the fuss is about ref Vista, I think there's alot of people jumping on the bad wagon. I got a laptop with Vista Premium a month or so ago and was really impressed by it. Looking back at XP now looks quite dated already. Vista everytime for me. Please let people make there own mind up.

p.s. looks pricey considering I got a Dell base unit, C2D 2.2GHz, 2GB Ram, 250GB HD DVDRW, card reader, keyboard, mouse, & Vista Home Premium etc for £170 delivered from Dell Outlet

Won't I get SP1 as a normal update as I have Vista already?

I think Vista is OK now, but when it was first released it had limited driver and legacy program support. So lots of people were unable to use relatively new hardware and software due to incompatibility.

As things progress, Vista will become more and more attractive, as more and more drivers and fixes are released to make hardware and software more compatible.

By the way, that is an absolutely cracking price for your dell PC.

Worst.
Deal.
Ever.

Vista is fine if you buy a computer with it pre-installed but it's never worth £189.16.

It’s a good price for the Full Retail Version but obviously it’s still expensive compared to the OEM versions.
For people that want to be able to move their O/S from system to system as they upgrade and have access to the 32 bit and 64 bit versions this is the one to get.

XP Home Retail costs £181 at Ebuyer so this is a bargain ebuyer.com/pro…800

sorry - but "bargain" is not the way to describe this.

OEM version from scan

scan.co.uk/Pro…296

64bit available also

scan.co.uk/Pro…295

I would never buy full retail versions of any O/S, there is no real need for it unless your planning to upgrade your hardware often, take a look at

tomshardware.co.uk/for…nse

so, i wont vote either way, but let you decide

this sucks dude. lol

If you get a free upgrade to Vista then it MIGHT be worth the learning curve hassles, incompatibilities, driver updates, software gotchas, etc etc, but to PAY for a Vista upgrade is self harm!

So says one harmed mk-donald, and I got a free upgrade

You have to register which school you or your son/daughter is attending, though i doubt they will check to be honest

Good find, although they only offer the upgrade version, personally i prefer a fresh install each time i do it.

ta though

I dont know why people are saying it isn't that much of deal. For VISTA ULTIMATE RETAIL it is a deal. Yeah you can get OEM cheaper but you cant transfer your OEM version on another computer (well legally you cant) and I dont know why someone has posted about student offer, not being funny but seeing as its a STUDENT offer, not everyone qualifies.
An ebuyer have this for £207.84 excl P&P.

The day we see a MS product in the UK with a similar price tag as the US....................you can guess the rest.

Hi,

For anyone who does want it amazon seem to do it for £189.97 with free delivery.

Ha, yes, you could certainly get a brand new PC from Dell with this installed for not much off the price of the software alone. And microsoft wonder why so many people don't pay for their products.
