Currently the speeds via Windscribe are 10% of my actual download speed. Keep that in mind.

Windscribe Ltd. is a Canadian VPN service provider that is based in Ontario.

That means Windscribe VPN won’t be able to get away from the five eyes surveillance program and sharing.

Falls at the first hurdle :-(

So on 200meg I'll be getting 20 meg

I've been using it and found it to be pretty good speed wise most of the time, I'm guessing it all depends on peak times etc.

I have free one but on there it's 47.99 per year so how can a for life one be cheaper

So be here today gone in 3 months

What's this about in the terms

Terms

Instant digital redemption
User must submit a support ticket at end of 10 year term to be awarded another 10 year term

Been using them since a year was included in a Humble Bundle a while back. Not overly impressed to be honest. Far worse speeds than I used to get with NordVPN and a much more limited selection of servers. But then it's much, much cheaper too.

There is s few VPN lifetime plans if you look on that link like VPN unlimited, just not clear which is best

does anyone know a good and reasonably cheap vpn that has decent speeds and reliability? what's the going rate for one, paying monthly rather than all at once for a year? i wouldn't want to sign up for a cheap deal to find the service is no good

I had pretty much the opposite experience - NordVPN was very slow for me so switched to Windscribe and, although not super fast, is way faster than Nord.

Same price I got a years worth, I do notice a bit of a slowdown but that's to be expected with a vpn

No one has mentioned that Netflix USA works with Windscribes new Windflix addon for your Browser which makes this very good value and it works flawlessly

I used to use Unblock-us for Netflix for a few quid per month. Won't take long for this to pay for itself even if Netflix is the only thing you use it for.

Dire download speeds tried the free 10b cap and tried speed test on available servers lowest 2.3 meg, highest 4.9 meg

Quick speedtest gave me 34.2meg download speed. More than enough for most internet related things..

If its only used to watch US netflix its cheap, i use to use unblockus it was £4.99 a month so this pays for itself in 4 months ive used it loads over the last week and no issues streaming 1080p i throw it onto the TV with chromecast and ive not seen any buffering or quality drops. People are complaining about the speed im on virgins 200mbps and using the correct server i loose around 20% so i get around 18-20mbps people should remember that Virgin uses that traffic shaping even on the 200 so if your heavily downloading during peek times which is pretty much all the time up until 11pm you will get 8 mbps down instead of the 25-26 you during the night. So its not windscribe its virgin, try it for yourself download a file of over 2gb and watch your speed drop massively and its not stable its up and down like a fiddlers elbow.

Use nordvpn, not part of five eyes. I have been using them for while, very good service.

Unless you’re a terrorist, drug dealer or pedo, why word 5 eyes bother you. Do you really they are after people watching iPlayer on their holidays

I think thanks to these cheap lifetime deals they've taken on too many customers without the necessary infrastructure upgrades to support them. I bought lifetime in the last deal and it's been a bit slow, hopefully it will improve eventually.

Speeds have be terrible on Windscribe, cheap for a reason I guess. Buggy desktop app too

I'm so impressed with NordVPN. Was with PIA which was impeccable, but they raised their prices before I was going to renew. I took a plunge for 2 years and my speeds often increases (plus net super fibre).

nice spot OP thanks

Okay it 22 quid for life, but the speeds are too slow for practical use. Most VPN are still offering great Black Friday, Cyber Week deals. Jump on one if them.

I always thought this too to be honest as it's actually ranked well for privacy in all areas apart from Five Eyes. IPlayer doesn't work on Windscribe anyway!

As to speeds, I've found this perfectly fine, I've only run a couple of speed tests and that's because I otherwise haven't needed to (it's the kind of thing you do when you need to show something is slow but it's never felt like that).

Not sure if this still works but not that long ago you could set up a free Windscribe account with the promo code 50GBFREE and (you guessed it) get 50GB of VPN transfer free every month on a limited number of servers. Each month the allowance should reset to 50GB with no carry over of unused allowance. That's what mine does anyway. As far as I know this is for life!

I found the free version (had 60GB/month from an offer/code on here a few months ago) had slower speeds than the paid for version. Currently I tend to get pretty much the same speed with/without VPN, though I'm on an ancient "up to 8Mbit" connection.

£22 is a great offer though. Read somewhere that the company found that offering lifetime licences made no difference to the signups to their full price plans, so they resumed offering the lifetime plans.

The reference to renew after 10 years is because the expiry of the plan is in 10 years time, after which you have to send them a request to reactivate another 10 years - or so it seems! Why they don't just set it to be an indefinite date, I don't know. The cynics amongst us might say it's to hope that we might forget to request the extension and so sign up with them again...

Yeh ok for now wait till big boys buy these vpn companies off.....oh master Joe blogs torrented game of thrones...yes master what ever you say master.

If you any of you are after a VPN service that's not under the five eyes then I recommend the Italian based AirVPN started by activists who values privacy. They are doing 35% discount at the moment. It's worth a look

I'm getting between 30-60 Mbps download speed depending on the time of the day with them so at that price you get heat from me.

Just tested with free account at my university wifi

50Mbps without windscribe
35Mbps with

At home with my 9Mbps with slowdown is more noticeable but its a useful service

Would it work on a Firestick with Kodi

I get about 90% of my broadband speed on it, good service so far.

I've gone for it shame no miss at this price

Ive had this for 12+ months plus and found it superb. I managed to get a better deal (<£20 as I signed up during the initial offering period) but I have the iOS App, the desktop app and the browser extensions - all work well and speeds aren't terrible either.
