Jaysons are offering the flu vaccination for £5.95 "while stocks last." You need to book an appointment. Best price otherwise as far as I know is £7 at Asda and at Morrisons.

If you're in one of the at risk groups, you get this for free (arrange it with your doctor).

Had mine today. Competently administered in a private area. It was reassuring to see they had an epipen handy in case of an anaphylactic reaction.

Handy if you're too young to get vaccinated for free, providing you live or work near either of their pharmacies.

Their website: jaysonspharmacy.com/ -- for anyone seeking their location.

Forgot to say: and free chocolate! They gave me a feedback form to complete after the vaccination, and a free little chocolate to nibble. They want you to stay in the shop long enough for any immediate, serious allergic reaction to kick in while they're still at hand with their epipen.

Flue jab has been well researched and is free for the elderly, disabled and carers from your GP.

Huge scam for the pharmaceuticals, no two strains of the flu virus are ever identical but worth it for the placebo affect. As you think, so shall you be.............
foc at my gp as well.

Me,3 of my sisters and my mum and dad.

Just went in asked.

If your gp wont do it then change gp:)
Placebo!? Fool! The jab is devised to protect from the most prevalent strain of the influenza virus that is around, normally the one that is most common in the southern hemisphere who are just finishing winter and flu season. It's an educated guess as to the most dominant strain but a placebo it's not.
Sounds worth getting for the price if your not eligible. Had one Monday and felt rough next day, but its better than being really ill for a week then weak and feeble for another after flu!
Placebo, lol...

Doesn't have to be identical to offer satisfactory protection: adequate similarity will pre-arm the immune response. The vaccine for the Northern hemisphere this year contains three components:
• an A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus;
• an A/Victoria/361/2011 (H3N2)-like virus;
• a B/Wisconsin/1/2010-like virus.

There is some placebo effect, but that's in addition to the biological effect; it doesn't mean the vaccine is a placebo.

Bad idea there is lots of morons saying dont have xyz jab. People will say any old crap (Nearly always people not well enough informed to have an opinion.)

Look at what happened with the measles jab nonsense. (We got a measles epidemic).

What an interesting read....

Does it protect against the common cold that most people really have when they say they have flu?

Dont call people morons just because they don't agree with you and don't believe everything they are told.
As well as being well informed, that is dependent on where you choose to get your information from. You are entitled to your opinion as they are theirs. Some people choose not to have vaccines because some contain the preservative thimerosal, which is mercury based.. Most people who objected to the measles jab, were objecting to the MMR being forced on us. In the past everyone was happy with single injections, its to do with choice, and if you make that choice, you are not a moron.

err whats your point most sweeteners are no better then poison and turmeric has been used for centuries so stands the test of time for being good for you - note it may not actually regenerate anything but def promotes better health
One of those issues where people will only reinforce the opinion they had to begin with. Do, or do not. Nobody really cares.

Its an important issue - Someone should care - or should we just blindly trust big pharma companies coz they have nice glossy brochures....?

Exactly. well said

It seems to me people are always more willing to accept bad news rather than good about anything these days.

But that aside, reading the report conclusions

Influenza vaccines have a modest effect in reducing influenza symptoms … Influenza vaccines have a modest effect in reducing influenza symptoms and working days lost. There is no evidence that they affect complications, such as pneumonia, or transmission

.

Having had flu in 1999, I am more than happy to pay a few quid to even just 'reduce' symtoms. If the effect is greater, then all the better.
Vaccines don't work and they are poisonous. Most people who got the swine flu had already had the h1n1 vaccine. Also Vitamin D prevents the flu better than any vaccine. Vaccines are full of poison like sqalene (a mercury derivitive), aluminium and all sorts of other things.

Don't get the flu jab!
I think the reality is that people will want flu jabs because they are worried they will get flu if they don't, that is their choice and they should be respected for it, what annoys me is when some people call others whacko and stupid because they don't want flu jabs and have come to certain realizations that all is not as it seems in the pharma industry.
I suppose JEZUK was right up to the point before he said no-one really cares and CORZAIR was right to say someone should care. Two years ago I demanded a flu jab and got one, now I would not go near one ever again, its a personal journey that some of us take. What I would say to the pro flu jab brigade is please do your own research and if it does not change your mind, then thats good for you, but don't just rely on what people in white coats tell you and what we tell you, look into it for yourself.

Source? Even if true, of course most people who have the vaccine in the first place ARE those who are most likely to feel the symptoms of any flu as they are particularly vulnerable to it in the first place....

And Vitamin D prevents flu better than any vaccine !?! What a joke.

Vaccines are full of poison like sqalene (a mercury derivitive

Chlorine is pretty bad to have in your body. Sodium chloride is just common table salt - yet it has chlorine in. Unless sqalene is just the element Hg and nothing else, your statement there is irrelevant.

Yes this won't cure the flu etc, but if you are vulnerable to the flu, it is well worth having.

EDIT:

About Vitamin D:
latimes.com/hea…ory
No effect whatsoever according to the latest randomized survey....Vaccines are at least proved to work

Good price --> Hot

EDIT 2:
"Squalene is a hydrocarbon and a triterpene, and is a natural and vital part of the synthesis of cholesterol, steroid hormones, and vitamin D in the human body"
Considering our body makes the substance itself, no further comment.

Para, I have done some reading and reached my own conclusion. That conclusion is different to the one you reached, but I'm not about to start calling you names because we have different views.

Good price --> Hot

Not sure if it's actually working like that, unless all the people voting cold on this deal know where those who have to pay can get it cheaper, and are keeping that information to themselves. (_;)

I am not advocating that vit D is a flu preventative, but If you just source the evidence for your opinions from the LA Times, well, hardly unbiased to large American drug companies.
Thimerosal is a mercury based preservative in the flu vaccine and not something all of us want in our bodies.
Apparently this doesn't cover man flu, so I'm out. Cold.
I am asthmatic and am offered a free flu vac each year but after the vac I had 12 years ago that proper f****d me up for 3 and a half

months I would need a good reason to take one ever again. Serious. Be careful with these things.

However if I didn't have that bad reaction I would still take them every year:)
COLD! Every person I know who took it has quickly become ill for not days but weeks. My poor friend last week was left a miserable wreck by the worst flu he ever had..... 3 days after taking this jab.
Firefly1 - Injecting something is different to ingesting something or even having the substance created in various organs in the human body.

I am not against vaccines in general, however at the time of the Swine flu 'scare', the vaccine they came up with contained adjuvant(s) which were not otherwise approved for use in vaccines. The only reason they got away with this is because the governments of various countries [including the UK] indemnified the drug companies against any possible court action. Certain countries did not agree to this [Poland for one]. This is all documented if anyone cares to google it.

Surely anyone would ask the reason for this and if they did, come to the same conclusion.

Personally, I think Wikipedia is much better source of medical science.
Flu Vaccines have been shown over and over not to be effective at reducing flu and worse have been linked with all kinds of nasty side effects. Further there have been no medical trials of the compound effect on our bodies of all the different vaccines that many people are now routinely taking. So these people are the guinea pigs as no one has shown that the cocktail of all these drugs in our systems is safe and there are many claims that indeed they are not. For me I'd rather risk the flu than the unknown consequences of continually assaulting my body and immune system with another dose of whatever the latest drug conncoction is. Although technically I'm not risking the flu any more than the person who has recieved the jab ( and then at least been mildly ill for around a week )
