    same as handbrake then
As far as I know... Handbrake converts formats, but doesn't actually rip and / or clone DVD's.
winx is a better solution as can do stuff like skip bad sectors and still give a useable file

handbrake can be used to rip but it uses some other prog/plugin
if can get handbrake going its probably better overall as the converting interface is neater but afaik it doesn't deal with errors
    Thanks

    That was my understanding too.

Thanks OP, was looking at backing up my DVD collection. Anyone know how quickly can it rip and convert a DVD on average?

I used Handbrake before to convert a number of DVD’s after ripping them. The good thing with this method is it took only like 5-10min to rip the DVD using a piece of software that I can’t remember what it was called, so I would sit for an hour swapping out discs. Then before going to bed I would just queue them up in Handbrake to convert them overnight as it’s this process that takes a while.

If this WinX ripper takes a while to rip then convert one disc at a time it may not be ideal for someone wanting to back-up their entire DVD collection. More suited for the odd back-up instead.

    Your welcome.
have you tried dvd shrink 3.2 that removes protection and allows you to rip quite freely, you will need nero 7 too

you can use software other than nero to burn if you dont have that
Try CDBurnerXP - freeware and never failed me - simple to use, doesn't have the 'functionality' of Nero i.e functions you will probably never use !
ADDENDUM - meant it doesn't need the added options to perform the same job - it is equally as functional (wrong choice of words - sorry !)

I tried using handbrake while driving and it put me in a spin, shredded my tyres and had me facing on coming traffic on the M25. I will never use it again, if you want an experience like that without taking drugs go ahead but dont blame me. I am coming out to say this as i dont want you lot to go thru what i went thru. If only one person is saved who reads this i wont mind. In the early days when if someone shouted hand brake i would have a flashback. Please stay away from handbrake.
cheers op, will have a look - could be what my daughter needs for school project

    dvd shrink?
ripping depends on the dvd drive speed i think - for me it was the slow part
(well both were but as you say you can queue the conversions)
    Use MakeMKV to rip
Handbrake to compress, remove stuff (like foreign langauge tracks) and convert into a format of your choice

Both MakeMKV and Handbrake are free bits of software.

It's a time consuming process though.

Yep, agree with a couple of posters on here, if all you want to do is archive your DVDs on a HD, like me, then DVD Shrink 3.2 will do that job for you. One of the first tools I install on a new system build - love it.

There should have been a text file that has your licence code in it. Add that and it will be a full registered version (just without upgrades)
In a generation where physical media will soon be obsolete, a lot of people will be needing this.
