For some reason I could never get handbrake to work properly. Would always be glitchy and blocky. So far, this has been fairly foolproof.

Not had any major issues with it. Ignore the device specific nonsense and always rip at the highest quality setting . About the only time I see blocky artefacts are very dark scenes and where there are big areas where one colour or tone fades into another like sunsets. Whatever you use, it's nice to get the DVDs out of the lounge.
Handbrake is really good once you've spent a bit of time familiarising yourself with it. It will decrypt DVDs if you have the appropriate plugin and will also rip blurays.
This is often offered free and it's a VERY good prog to have

My brother uses Handbrake religiously and it works great for him, I should get him to set up for me. I think I can't get round the copy protection. But agreed, nice to liberate the DVD!
Cheers. Was wanting to copy a DVD I have the other week and ended up using Handbrake because I had lost my previous free copy of this. Took me 3 goes before Handbrake produced something watchable.
I'll try not to lose this copy.
nevermind "Always the 1st & fastest program to support..." if you on the right websites, WinX (aka Digiarty) are ALWAYS the first company to have FREEBIE offers for the latest versions!

There is a small file that you can insert into Handbrake to get past copy protection. Unfortunately the page that I got mine from seems to have been taken down though.

Interesting, do you recall the name of that file at least?.

As that could then always be separately researched ... lol.
Very good software, I purchased a license about 6 years ago and still use it now. Very rare to find something it does not rip. Also the only time I did have an issue with re-install they were very quick to provide the key I needed to get going again, even though it was 5 years after the purchase. Updates are still regular and you can send off error reports for DVD's that don't rip. Think I have had well over my £22ish moneys worth..

    libdvdcss.dll

Have a look about a third of the way down this page:
    winxdvd.com/res…all-handbrake-libdvdcss-to-rip-dvd.htm
Thanks, a handy piece of software to have.
Thanks, useful to have. Saves spending ages to find one only to find out that after hours of conversion it watermarks your video!
Thanks OP - it's time to upgrade version 7.5 from the last giveaway.
