What's the picture like on night vision??

Is It a secured Wifi ?

Does it send images to phone, the resolution does not seemgreat butam asking as am interested in something likethis too.? Is it having a samba server ? for checking any recorded film remotely . If so then what version of samba because down versions are not secure

looks good, and easy to setup too.

If you live in an area with Metropolitan Police don't bother as they gave up investigating theft a long time ago

I've got 2 foscam/xenta cams already which I can view simultaneously on the same app or software - does anybody know if this is compatible too? Thanks.

Guys if you go to the eBay page there's a link to YouTube which shows you how to set up. It looks fairly easy. You need a QR scanner on your phone.

Thanks op

Foscam clone. Don't expect amazing image quality but perfectly good for remote security. I've got two/ one clone and one genuine. Night vision is good up to 15feet. Have one in the baby room instead of monitor - much more useful. Can be configured though your router to allow remote viewing over internet. Remember to change all the default passwords and port numbers.

It's not clear if the camera can be monitored and controlled live over the Internet, or just over the same local network

Thanks OP. Ordered.

2013 and sec cameras have vga resolution...even if u see something u won't be able to recognise anything

looks good value im really after an external camera though can anyone recommend a similar spec external camera?

I use a couple of very similar Foscam clones for home security. Both are good, but neither has the ability to turn off the IR night vision. This is a pain, as I have one pointed through a window at my front drive, and at night the IR beam reflects off the window and renders the image completely useless.

Bought one to give it a try as a baby camera, worth the risk for that price!

You can monitor it remotely (outside of your LAN)

will need to find a NAS to store the streamed video for it to be truly usefull as a cctv....

order one as a baby monitor as others have as well. From the demo video it should be fine for that.

There is no point turning the ir off if you got the camera pointing from inside the window. The only time ir will be useful is when it's not pointing through a glass window as it will reflect. If you do manage to turn off the ir, in darkness the camera will pick up nothing.

Most modern routers support samba, so plug your usb drive in there, job done.

I should have clarified - we have an outside light near where the camera is located, so it should give us some kind of images even in the dark

I use Zoneminder (www.zoneminder.com) which provides monitoring of motion events, zoning, multiple cameras and best of all is FREE

Looks like you need to connect via cable to set it up, as you'll need to feed it the details of your wifi network. Once you do that it should work off wi-fi

Does this camera support samba??

I have one of these (or something very similar) and whilst yes, they are cheap, the build quality is very poor, eg the focus ring is now quite loose so difficult to keep images in focus. Its also a pain to get to play well with apps; otherwise you're stuck with the built in browser app. I will have to get a better quality one at some point.

So I think you may as well spent a bit more to get a better one rather than get a cheap one now and then have to get another later.

I've been looking for a decent IP cam with better image quality than my 5 year old SD Y-Cam.

Anybody got any suggestions as to what the most reasonably priced one would be that is actually worth using?

Ordered one see what the mutts up too whilst im out

Most IP cam should be able to. But it take hellable in-depth knowledge to set it up(e.g- first you need set up your own dynamic dns and configuration of your internet modem/router etc.) Until now I am still puzzle on how to set my virgin media super hub to use with my IP cam.

that you tube clips shows the camera remotely tilting? and the quality obviously over wifi doesnt lok that bad?

I use 2 EasyN IP camers to keep an eye on the dogs when i'm out, work really well colours aren't great but is not an issue. night quality is excellent, i use Android Apps - TinyCam Monitor Pro and IP Cam Viewer Lite on my phone and can view bith cameras simultaneously fully control the cameras Pan Tilt ETC and also just use the preset PTZ camera points. Cameras are also set to upload images when the sense movement to my NAS drive (these can also be emailed) The above APPS are Free, i did pay for the full version of TinyCam so i can "listen In" quality isn't great but factoring in what you have paid I'd rate these at 9/10. Had mine now for over a year working on WIFI so once set up i can move them around as all you need is a power socket. I can view them over WIFI or using my Moble data conection

Thanks for the info mgtf,

mind to share which model you have? I am trying to research if this particular model have the functions that you mentioned built in - mainly the ability to upload images to NAS ....

Assuming your NAS has an FTP server this will happily send images to it over FTP.
