Nearly on last episode on Netflix... Better than I thought...added bonus Henry Cavil

FYI this is a short story collection, not the first novel. The first novel is 'Blood of Elves'.

Tbh I think the first 2 books that are short stories are the best imo . The novels are good too.
You might be better of buying the 7 (8 now ) book set as it's available for just over £20

I really loved it. And even though Gerald's story in the first season of the Netflix series borrows mostly from this book it'll still be a fun read.

It's up and down. I found 3 poor, but 4 was great. Not quite finished it yet, so can't comment on the whole series.
Heat from me, watched the series and loved and wanted to give the books ago but cheapest seemed to be around £5 even in the kindle until now.

If you don't read a lot of fantasy, then you'll probably enjoy them a lot. In my opinion, they are distinctly average fantasy novels/short stories (or at least the English translations are). The games are a lot better, and a lot of the plotlines in the first game are in the books even though the games are supposed to start after the last book.

This article suggests the short stories are the best place to start. I figured at £3 I can dip my toe into the series without having to commit to the entire book set.

Definitely a good place to start but the emphasis is on these being short stories, which I didn't know when I first read The Last Wish 10 years ago.

I remember originally being a little thrown by the fact the stories don't hang together at all and there's no overarching story. Re-reading it now I still remember that feeling!

I loved the show. The Episodes I loved, some people disliked and visa versa. I have some criticisms but the same can be said for The Mandalorian.

I was never bored and I can’t wait for season 2. Hopefully it won’t wet the bed like Game of Thrones and flush my fandom down the toilet.

Tempting, liked the show Henry Cavil is great but there's some others that really let it down with their characters/acting Trish and Bard come to mind.

Pls could you send a link to that? I can't find and would like to buy this. Thank you.
Loved the game. Enjoyed the series with a few exceptions. Will give the book a try for £3.
Loving the Netflix series. Loved the game when I started it (the first one where there was all that talk about the difference between the Director's Cut edition and Special Edition I think it was). Game was very good but I only played a few hours. Series is good. Might pick this up - too lazy to read though - prefer Audible books these days!

Just looked and they have gone up a lot . I bought them from snazle about a year ago for about £25 ISH for 7 books , and they were widely available for about that . It seems they have gone up a lot because of the release of the series.
Grabbed the kindle ebook the other day for 99p, looking forward to reading it after I finish the last Harry Potter book!

I thought the same seems to be you get one monster per episode, only thing I don't get is why he doesn't use his "Jedi" push trick more often
OMG the game Witcher is such a success! They not only made a Netflix TV series based on brillant games from CD Project but now there is a book! I am so impressed and I want more!
Promo code QUID20 worked for me to bring it down to £2.40
How does click and collect work here, if I buy how many days do I have to collect it ?

I ordered on Sunday night, they were not showing stock and quoting 3-5 days. Had a text and email Monday morning saying it is ready for collection. Picked it up after work

Not sure on how long they hold the parcel in the store for though....

Where?
As already stated by a few, I’ve picked this up and the rest of the series on audible after watching on Netflix. About halfway through this first book of short stories which the show borrowed a lot of its content from, not complaining though as it’s helped me understand a lot of the confusing parts in certain episodes! Looking forward to delving further into the audible series so if anyone has a few free credits lying around I’d recommend picking this first book up for a try
I got this on Audible ages ago, but really didn't like the voice the narrator used for Geralt. I might grab this and give it a go.
Just to let you know - as usual books are much better then Netflix series or games. Take your time, start reading and enjoy!

Apparently, all 3 stories, of Geralt, Yennefer and Cirri are told in different time lines. though its not made obvious so its confusing.
These are some of the best books I've ever read. The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny are both short stories, but do some brilliant world building before the novels (which start with Blood of Elves). Can't recommend enough, and unlike GoT, the last book is released and probably has some of the best chapters I've ever read, of anything!
I read all books and played all games. Can anyone suggest any similar polish fantasy books to read?
allthepugs30/12/2019 00:55

The short story collection is ok but the main story novels are not well written and a confusing slog to get through. They are not engaging or interesting. I would just watch the show imo.

If you like bad acting, feminism, bad writing and SJW being slammed down your throats then you will love The Yennefer, sorry, The Wither.

Amazing read. Finished the tv show last night. Very average. Too many mistakes, no humour... No witty dialogue lines.... Boring at times, inconsistent.
