May be a daft question, but could this be brought as a mans / unisex bike? Are there any fundamental differences?

The male version is also for sale at Rutland.

Depends up on your height. The large is not really equivalent to a large in the mens. The reach - which means from where you sit on the seat reaching forward to grip the handlebars - will be shorter to accomodate women who tend to have shorter upper bodies / arms.

But if you take a medium, for example, in a mens then a large in this might be just right. All depends.

I ride a female step-through large Specialized Globe as my shopping bike. I am 6 foot tall. It is a tad too small for me really in the reach but I raised the saddle so leg length is not an issue. I have ridden it to death over 12 years almost 365 days per year.
My husband bought the men's version from Rutland Cycling and it arrived today. Very pleased with it - quite light, well made, comfortable. Just been down the canal paths and he is very impressed with it. The RRP is around £450, but most shops are selling them at £340, so £240 is a good deal. It seems a better bike than the equivalent low end offerings in Halfords etc.

Edit: Just been to the big Evans Cycles near the Trafford Centre to buy bike lights. Had a quick look at the hybrids and they have a few around the £300 price bracket, mostly Pinnacle (their own brand, though will obviously be made by one of the bigger companies) and feel even happier with the £240 Cannondale - the welding on the frame seems neater and more uniform and the overall look of the bike, hand grips, wheels etc. just looks better quality than the entry level hybrids at Evans. How it fits you and how nice a bike rides is the most important thing obviously, but really happy with the Quick 7 at the price he paid.

As others have said, there is a men's version also on offer. However, it looks like the men's and women's versions are exactly the same (but a women's large is the same size as a men's medium).

Avoid Rutland Cycling if you want anything that resembles after sales care...

Thirded. Pedal snapped off on my Cannondale Quick 7 men’s that arrived two weeks ago, after 40 emails I realised that they ain’t interested, wriggled out of everything and said it was my fault for cross threading pedal. Even sent them the photo of my damaged hand from hitting the deck when the pedal snapped. AVOID!
