They only have 2 flights going out a week, if you can't make the flight your holiday is pretty much ruined. You'd be better off using Virgin, they will go out of there way to get you on the next flight later in the day or early next morning.

Try being in time for flight? Just a thought.

Not really, they send over a million people a year abroad. Of course they will get a lot of complaints. Any company with that many customers will.

Exactly this. Been on 3 long haul holidays with tui in last 18 months and not had a single issue.

You're looking at £1500pp for premium all inclusive and balcony cabin for this holiday. Not bad! But cruising isn't for me.

They made promises for special assistance for a family member and in short did not deliver. After months of trying to get a reply they said that the TUI representatives at the airport who basically messed up are employed by an outside agency. They were wearing the TUI uniform but once TUI get your money they don’t seem to care. Now they don’t have much competition with the demise of Thomas Cook they will get worse, if that is at all possible.

Thats why i go with Jet2 Holidays, great company with a great customer service!

After my recent experience with Tui and their customer service, which is a joke. This is one company that is not going to get any further custom. If you like Tui, good price and find op, heat added!

You have been very lucky then, im still dealing with a complaint and ABTA (not fit for the 21st Century) cant resolute as its not their job, so you have to pay for intermediate to make a resolution. Any calls that are made and recorded suddenly disappear even thou they refer to them in complaints and after i made a request for DSA (data subject access). Shocking company and as i said in previous remark they wont be getting any further custom!

SAME HERE
Took me 7 months to get the flight delay compensation we were owed. They tried every trick to try and not pay us out. Customer service were a shambles and getting through to the correct department was deliberately impossible. I think if you go with Tui, be warned, if there are problems, good luck resolving them.

Same as any airline. It's in their interests to not pay out and will rely on people giving up or not following proper process.

Email Aftertravel.Flightdelay@tui.co.uk and when they refuse on some bs grounds just file it with cedr.

Our flight was delayed by 27hours coming back from mexico due to staff sickness, although they claimed medical emergency after filing the claim(it wasn't, just 3 cabin crew with food poisoning) on the basis of a draft ruling on the EU scheme (so draft, not even being in law).

Filed end of September and CEDR agreed with me on 7th January. Around two weeks later a cheque from TUI for £1076, almost half the cost of the holiday for an extra days holiday there. We didn't even leave the hotel, let alone get to the airport so was hardly putting us out having an extra days holiday.
I've been on his itinerary with Tui and loved every minute of it. Staff were great and went out of there way to ensure we ha d a great time. I guess you can't please everyone though after reading some of these comments.

I did go through CEDR and they ruled in our favour but it took another 3 months of chasing and reopening the case to get the cheque. Delayed with Jet2 the year before and they paid within 3 weeks. There was more hassle with Tui, one example was they sold us the holiday with a £100 gift card, but then denied it was their offer even though I'd taken screenshots. I'm not a hater, but in my experience with them, they suck.
It’s based on two people, who wants to come with me?
Had a few cruises with Marella in the last 18 months, twice on this ship the Discovery and had a great time fantastic value for money and a very good standard of AI, IMO. This 'actual deal' is very hot as I have been looking at this Asia itinerary for some time, if we could get time off would snap this up in a second.
I suppose you can argue this is a good deal but for over 2 Grand two people could easily fly to a handful of these places and stay in nice hotels for a few days and really enjoy the places rather than rushing around and wasting time on a boat (or Phuket lol). Not a cold deal tho, suitable for some I'm sure.

You can but I have found from previous marella (tui) cruises, it's a good try before you buy as you get a snapshot of a location then you can decide if you would like to fly back another time and really enjoy the places with a full stay.

Yeah I guess so, as long as you don't get bad weather one day or get sick. I have to say tho, if you went to Columbo for a day you would not be getting a snapshot of Sri Lanka, there's a nice park there but it's a world away from what anyone should go to Sri Lanka for. With a day you may or may not think it's nice, spend a week there and you won't want to leave.

Really, flights and hotels for a "handful of these places" for 2 grand? Don't forget travel between the "handful of places" plus meals and entertainment.

Still trying to decide if I like Marella - just back from Canarian Flavours - but probably pluses outweigh minuses.
Always worth looking at a week stay either before or after the cruise if only going for a week. Sometimes the cost difference id quite small compared to booking a week stay as a stand alone holiday.

Yeah return flight to somewhere like Thailand can be had for around 400 and flights around Asia are usually under a hundred, sometimes under 50, decent hotels with breakfast easily found for 30 a night. I've never felt the need for cruise ship style entertainment while traveling so I can't comment on that.

What did you think of Fuerteventura?
Bearing in mind that on a cruise you just have a day in the location, Fuerteventura (actually Puerto del Rosario) was ok to walk around for a couple of hours. Not sure what there was to explore further out since we did not book any excursions.
Overall, the Canary Islands do not have many major towns. The history is with the remote vilages so you need a car to explore. The resorts have been built for tourism with new build villas/apartments.
