They must be some big buds!

richard1390

Ridiculous, them council tax payers just being ripped off for some stupid council decision. Might buy some shares in AMEY, only ones making anything out of it.

schnorbitz

Thanks for this information, will pass it on to local councillors, groups and schools in my area. Good luck.

jamgin

The size of trees they are felling may be a tad too big for your living room. Usually takes 1 lumberjack and 20 police to fell a tree in Sheffield... Quotas to fill you know.

turbo_c

Shame they can't be used for private.

Tree-mendous! Don't forget to 'Log' in...I wonder if the Woodland Trust has a branch near me... :D

Thanks for posting - heat added - register signed - have you seen the protect the woodlands campaign aimed at stopping trees being cut down and covered in the law. https://campaigns.woodlandtrust.org.uk/page/13641/action/1?_ga=2.151488572.420685584.1510052588-625769379.1510052588

Jeez - of course they can plant a tree anyway - it's about raising awareness of the tree charter and putting your name to an idea. People are miserable. Also it has a 'Please tick if you would like to hear from us' option. "We'd love to keep in touch with you about our news, appeals, campaigns, events, products and how you can get involved: By post By email This will overwrite any previous consent you have given, so please tick if you want to keep hearing from us. We will keep your details safe and never sell them. Our online privacy statement explains all. You can change the way you hear from us at any time – just email supporters@woodlandtrust.org.uk or call 0330 333 3300."

A treemendous offer.

TallerPaul

The price without waiting to get for free £50.00, shame the only tree that interests me is crab apple trees for my plot, although in their store you can buy smaller packages, i would love to have a hedge row on my plot on either side then have the fruit and nut mix but not sure may grow too big, the apple trees i have at the moment are perfect size.

SavB

The cost of post and packing on this must be HUGE

Or was he simply going to use the Billion the May found to bribe the DUP to stay in power for far better things.... Maybe he was finally planning to tax the rich corporate backers of the Tories?? ;)

I would have hoped experts in this sort of area would've known the plural of 'leaf' isn't 'leafs'... That's an American website, where buckthorn has been introduced and can be fairly invasive (as it grows better than native plants in american climates). However, it is native to Europe, and is actually very beneficial to British wildlife (not least the Brimstone butterfly), and as such shouldn't pose a problem at all over here. tl,dr; Buckthorn is fine, calm down.

Angri

You could always sow apple pips and plumstones of course!

blammo

Good deal but shame no fruit trees

maxiils

Be careful what you are getting. These tress seem bushy and fast growing - and may soon overtake other plants in the garden.. https://www.macalester.edu/academics/environmentalstudies/threerivers/studentprojects/envi_194_lsr/Invasive_species/WEBSITE/Buckthorn.html They also have a lot of berries so would propagate around your area quickly. Not sure advisable for small gardens...just be careful they are right for you and your area before planting. Said with care and love! x

In stealth mode it allows you to secretly identify a tree and then brag to your family your immense wealth of tree knowledge - Ray Mears/Steve Backshall (and that other fella) style :-) Heat and downloaded.

Sambat

Yep, ta. ;)

sylv

You may not have been typical, though. When I was kid, I knew all the utility boxes and poles in our streets by their colour and outline, but could not confidently identify any tree by any of its features. I wouldn't be surprised if urban kids now are actually better at naming trees than I and my contemporaries were.
