Have this tracking on camelcamelcamel and it just dropped down. Usually £19.99, at this price it works out cheaper than paying for the subscription through the game.

Is this still going? WOW!!
Thanks!
1,5-2.5 million subscribers wow has depending on time of year. Imagine that. That's people paying this subscription monthly.

Its anything but dead and very much alive. Mmorpgs wish they had those figures and loyal subscribers.

Id say those numbers are very conservative!
I've always wanted to get into but I'm thinking I'm too late to the game.

Never too late. Lots of catch up mechanics and instant level boosts to allow to play the latest expansion. If anything, apart from collecting achievements, mounts etc. you're essentially going to be at the same point in the game as other players when the new expansion launches this year
300K+ Gold gets you 30 days gametime. Easy to grind with just 4 110 Chars doing your Follower mission for gold and a few dailys for order resources + gold when waiting between raids/Mytics

So it can be play for free it you have a bit of in game time plus legion app

Check yourself. They go even higher with expansions. With classic I expect them to go past 3 million.

That's why I said conservative! Id expect them to be a fair bit higher but there is no accurate way to check as Blizzard dont publish subscriber numbers (for a few years now iirc) so theyre always conjecture

Yea I'm sure some people do use this method and you can earn much more with things like raid boosting. I personally think that it can't be worth grinding for that gold, 300k is quite a lot and if it takes more than an hour to do it would be better to work and buy the game time lol

No-one knows how many subscribers WoW has since Blizzard stopped reporting the subscription numbers. Last time they published them the subs had dropped from 10 million to 5 million, and user experience since the start of Legion suggests they have continued to fall. Most servers are dead except for a few of the high population ones that people are flocking to now.

I've unsubbed until Battle for Azeroth because Argus is the worst zone ever made.

LOL paying over and over again for the same game

What is wrong with that if you are enjoying it?

Do you pay over and over for new PC parts that make marginal difference, just so you can tell your pals that you can run Crysis at 4 frames faster than them? (I mean, That would totally impress me!...)

There is no Grind involved. You need to get about 10k a day (10x30 = 300) you can get around 8-10k just on the follower missions per day. but on short days all you need to do is a few of the high gold paying Daily's. Then you just got to top up your Order hall resources. These are things that you would normally do in game in between raids/Mythic anyways as they get you rep per faction. So no grinding needed, Just playing the game required

I also work full time Monday - Friday 9-5. Normally do my follower missions on the legion app during the day, and then the dailys before a raid or mythic

Yes, but my numbers are still either on the money or they have more than I said. Think about how much that is just a for a MONTH for Bliz. Now imagine a year...

The game is far from dead and for me, someone who did buy new games regularly, it is cheaper as now I only pay around £15 a month instead of buying new games at £30-£50. I also have more content than 99% of games and stuff added all the time.

I think people like to think games die. People love to see shit end for some odd reason... so now with this game they like to imagine it is dead.

With Classic and the new expansion I think it will prob double or more and then lose numbers until future expansions like it always does.
I played vanilla wow and it was the most addictive thing ever

/played far too much, I have good memories of it however

I recently topped up some game time but it's just not the same and the upcoming expansion looks like the poorest attempt at new content I've seen in my opinion

It can steal hours and hours of your life but games are a time sink by definition I suppose, having said all of that I'd recommend it if you haven't tried it
Waiting for Classic myself, but I did try Legion. It's just not the same.
The best game ever.
Every year I come back for a couple of months.
