Literally bought this about 2 hours ago, was surprised that Argos were the cheapest I could find. It's usually instant-gaming.

Same price at Amazon but temporarily OOS

People still comment with "people still play this?" ?

they don't reveal count anymore in investor reports. even the 8m is pretty weak considering the mass drop off after launches. not to mention most of sub count comes from China where they don't have monthly sub fees.

Why is this cold? Surely cheaper than 2 x £9.99 subscription fee?

maybe because it is often even cheaper. maybe because it's irrelevant. maybe the sub fee is overpriced and model outdated. maybe a lot of disgruntled ex players. there's a lot more reason. imo £10 a month for a 10 year old game is ridiculous.

not to mention actually having to buy the new expansion. for most people, playing a game for two months just isn't worth £50

As far as I know WoW has always had a sub fee in China.
8million is weak considering the mass drop off after launches of a what, 12 year old game that you need to pay to play?
Come on guys. You're reaching here.

You're forgetting to add that this is a top-quality MMO, maintained at the highest level with regular patches and new content. No other game came even close to it's success and all those "wow-killers" do not last too long at all. And yes. I am one of those casual players, who always come back for new expansion for a few months. £25 is not a lot at all for a whole new game chapter, which will keep you entertained for months and £10 a month is no more than you have to pay for any decent subscription-based MMO (unless you're into some weird Korean free to play stuff).

Will be back up when legion hits, it's the best expansion yet, the previous 3 have been very poor I Imo, the beta for legion has being amazing.

I agree, and it seems like a lot of money, but on occasion, the temptation to not go on a raucous night out mid-week and have a few hours game session with friends and a couple of beers means it pays for itself in opportunity cost relatively quickly. And the fact that after 10 years it still feels fresh shows it's a real testament to what's possible when developers choose story over things like graphics, they have constantly amended the format to appeal to casual gamers (when they realised this is what we are moving towards with the advent of freemium mobile games).

Considering your going to become horrifically addicted every time you play this game to the extent you will not buy or play any others games... its worth every penny to me
