thanks nice post just ordered it

Thanks - ordered

many thanks, just ordered

how long is each episode?hour or half hour?

That's the old fart's Christmas present sorted ! =P

Im a huge fan of the history of the 2 world wars and have not seen any of this series . Is it Americas version of how they saved the world or is it the version where 90% of all German soldiers killed actually died on the Eastern Front ?

Looks very North American centric from those headings. No Poland, France, Dunkirk, Battle of Britain - oh, and 'America lands in North Africa' neglecting the 8th Army was there already. The fact that Pearl Harbor is covered in the first part speaks volumes, unfortunately.

history is re-written by the victors.....and if there are multiple victors then it is re-written by those with the biggest television budgets

Just ordered 1 ,Something interesting to watch .
Thanks heat added

For the price, it’s good value. But consider investing in the 11 DVD box set of The World At War, which will give you a much more balanced perspective. £17.99 at Amazon currently.

Stupid response, i think you will find history and historians are alot different than it was 500 years ago

Cold from me because it looks like you basically getting half of what you should be getting, pearl harbour on the first dvd indeed!

Go and get the award winning 'World at War' and not this piece of american garbage

Well, that's pretty obvious, but I think the key factor here is that it's £4.89 for 10 DVDs, and some people (particularly my elderly relatives) can watch war DVDs til the cows come home.

If it were £18 like TWAW (which don't get me wrong, is a great price for that series), I doubt it would have been listed.

It's only three or four DVDs (Amazon lists it as three), with no running time quoted but probably no more than six hours (assuming forty minutes per episode for US TV docs). The World at War runs for nearly twenty three hours so you could argue that it represents better value for money on both quantity and more importantly quality.

Yeah, I just noticed I'd read it as 10 DVDs.

F*ck this then :-D

The former by the looks of things.

Whilst its certainly true that The majority of German troops were tied down in Russia, it would be nonsense to suggest other allies did not do their bit as well.

It should be remembered that it was mainly the Americans who took the fight to the Japanese in the pacific.

just ordered for the old farts present aswell , luckily got a sendit £1 off voucher emailed to me today its 359-4847-CB1E if anyone can use it?

hmm worked ok for me, ah well

I suspect its no "The World at War" which for me was the ultimate documentary covering WW2 and well worth £18 of anyone's money, my second being Auschwitz - The Nazis & the final soloution.

I got this for £3.89 so worth a punt!

Thanks for warning me of the American BS (can't stand it, since when is it heroic to wait years before joining a *world* war!?). I would of considered this boxset it if it was unbiased as I'm very interested in all things WW2.

Btw, anyone seen the new Pacific? That's quite funny...has a kill ratio of about 50 japs to 1 American. Just like in Band of Brothers, even though everyone knows the Germans were vastly superior to Americans, who were the worst of the major infantry armies.

More American ego stroking...:(

Now £7.89... so gonna have a look at world of war instead.

This title is defo US biased... Pearl Harbour, America lands in north Africa, Patton arrived in North Africa, US forces land in IWO JIMA.

Don't you just hate the Americans trying to rewrite history!!!!!!!!!!!!!
