This is awesome! Best sharpener I've bought. Do read reviews on Amazon tho! They recommend not over sharpening as you'll have no blades left and don't use too frequently. Great deal heat added!
Ordered and voted Hot. Have one already which is brilliant, but this one's for Daughter. Thank you O.P.
If you don't have it,its time to buy it. Great sharpener and price is lowest, except fake ones on fleebay.
Lowest I've seen this was £6.27 but that was a few years ago - good find so heat added.
must be the cheapest I've seen. love ours but it is brutal until the knife edge matches the sharpener, then its not too bad.
You don't ever need an expensive knife any more. Just a crappy one+this!
Quality cheers
i have one of those metal stick thingys at moment to sharpen knives is this better or will it just wear the knife away quickly ?
Cheers OP - not seen these before, but they sound good. Just ordered!
I got one, they are crap!
I bought one of these last year and it is shockingly bad. It absolutely destroyed all my knifes (which weren't expensive but then need replacing). It has one fixed cutting angle and the chance that matches your knifes is low given that its too wide, therefore it simply ruins the blade. It also left a slightly jagged edge where it gouged chunks of metal from the knife.

All in all if you want to sharpen your knife invest in a slightly more expensive sharpener. I opted for This one where the cutting angle matches that of your knife.
ordered a spare one - these are great

Really? Mines great! I use a basic block of kitchen devils, resharpen maybe every 3 months at most and they cut through anything.

just bought on basis of all the good feedback. saves buying a new set of knives.....hopefully
Great for putting an edge on a really blunt blade, but would not recommend for regular sharpening. Use this to renovate a knackered blade and a steel or whetstone to keep it that way!

You got a FAKE then...only one explanation.
Or you are just trolling.

I bought this a few yrs ago. Can confirm this is a must have, and it does keep our knives very sharp.

Talking about wearing the knives away. I can only think that this may be the case alot further down the line. As with any sharpening devise a very small amount of metal will be taken off every time. My opinion would be just to draw back the blade a couple of times to keep them sharp and last longer....
Wouldnt use this on my globals
Excellent product have some heat!
Good Price ...
Bought this for £ 6.95 on 31 Jan 2010 !!
This does work - but it doesn't sharpen a knife properly. It will eat away at your knife very quickly indeed - as seen by the metal shavings it leaves behind. Do *NOT* use this on your expensive Global or Henckels knives - get those sharpened professionally (or do it properly yourself). For getting a nice quick edge on a cheap blade, this works OK though.

Different tool altogether really, a sharpener creates the cutting edge by grinding it to shape, a metal sticky thing called a steel keeps it sharp.
That's one of my dad's Xmas presents sorted nearly 11mths early!
Ordered, thanks
This is an excellent tool to turn your £100+ knife into a £10 knife.
its a grinder not a stone or steel, know the difference and you will have a sharp knife (and wont waste money on a grinder).
seems to have gone
