is this any good?? sooooo cheap!

Ive bought a lot from DX though one order hasnt come through, it looks like it is stuck in customs so Im querying with them at the moment.
What you buy is cheap stuff, dont expect anything to last for quite some time, which I suppose is the reason its so cheap.

Cant complain though, otherwise I still wouldnt be buying!

But I wouldnt always say they DX offers are hot deals as they are always consistently cheap price and cheap make.

This card reader is so damn cheap, so good find grother.
Personally I would spend a few quid more and buy oneof the multi card readers that they have.

It's too easy to post 'deals' from DealExtreme.Everything on there is rock bottom price.

Out of curiosity - what item got stuck in customs?

HUKD = "Hot UK DealExtreme" :whistling:

What is the size (in Mb) of this card? Doesn't say. Maybe it is a 1Mb card (as in the worlds smallest capacity), lol. Good find though, and I'm still waiting on two orders I've placed with them 3 weeks ago.

this is only a card reader (unless I didn't get your joke) LOL

I think there's no capacity and you have to supply your own microSD card to use in it.
That's why it says "reader", and "you can turn this into...".

And what is a USB?

lol, just kidding. Didn't see it was just a card reader

i use one of these with a 4gb card. works a treat. it seems to be a much more sturdier design too.
great deal though.
heat added!

that is outrageously small, looks pretty simple too so other than the contacts getting scratched to hell, should be ok reliability

The cards are cheap too and this is ideal if you have a mobile that takes these cards

cheers mate!

i would reccomend getting one with a cover on it (like the one in the link above). it will protect it in your pocket, but more importantly, it will make sure that the micro sd card doesnt slip out.

No problems with at all, has worked in all the devices i have tried it in.

I got one of these through with my TTDS. I found that it didn't work at first, but then pushed the card in hard to the reader and it worked no problems on both my PC and Mac.

Also worth adding its SDHC compatible.

ive had a few things from deal extreme and had no problems at all.voted hot

"guaranteed hot" deal extreme deal #92544

DX do the really small one (the one linked to later on in this thread) in blue, too:

So, if you don't want a yellow one....buy a blue one.

Ordered a few of these so we could include pdfs on flash for my girlfriends thesis. Very small and work fine.

just was some screen protectors for nano, remote control for nano and a usb extension, total cost was about $15.

i had an item not come through from dx. Queried it, they asked me to wait a bit, eventually offered a refund, which i never recieved, then said they forgot and said they would give me one. never ever have, and iv never received a reply again, with no phone number i lost the money, fair enough it was only 8quid but still

Mine's just arrived, but I'm a little confused.

Where exactly am I supposed to plug the reader into? I thought it would fit into a USB port... but it doesn't seem so.

Excuse my stupidness, any help would be great. =)

it does fit in, just upside down (micro sd card face down).
there is a red light.
it looks pretty good

Haha, don't I feel stupid now?

Thanks. =)

your welcome

I know this has been around for a while, but I think it's the deal of the year. Mine works perfectly and is so tiny, my only worry is that I might lose it!

If you're only buying this to use as a tiny usb drive, you might want to consider this ]Transcend drive. I got one to use in my car head unit, as I kept knocking the old one out when going in to 5th gear! It looks to be about the same dimensions and doesn't require you to buy a separate card. I was quite shocked at how small it is. I wouldn't want to say that Misco is the cheapest, it's just that I bought it from there when ordering some stuff for work.

waterproof? impressive

i wonder how much damage those copper contacts could take before they break/become unusable

I know what you mean, although it does seem to be really well made. It's not such an issue for me as it just sits in the car unless I want to put some new music on it.

I just had a look at the dimensions: -

MicroSD card reader 35.5 x 13.0 x 2.5 mm (converting from inches to mm)
Transcend T3W 30.2 x 12.3 x 2.4 mm

So it's not actually the smallest way to get usb memory - obviously if you want a tiny microsd card reader, then it's a great buy, if however you just want a tiny usb drive, I think there are better alternatives (although admittedly possibly a bit more expensive.)

Voted hot for a card reader!
