I can't make Universal Credit itself any better sadly, but hopefully this post will help some people who want to feel like they know how to apply for it at least. Happy to turn this into a megathread, if anyone can suggest any other useful resources.

Learnmyway, is an excellent easy-to-use site by the UK's biggest digital inclusion charity for a free short course on Universal Credit here learnmyway.com/cou…de/ It also has a few useful links to things such as checklists. They have free ocurses on other computer based skills too, if you or someone you knows want to brush up.

As ever, the theory is great. The practicality is a whole different issue...

It's been out where I live since 2013. Let that sink in. 5 years. They've ignored: Experts, Politicians from all parties and the people on the thing itself. Even IDS who created it, as it were, said it doesn't work. They clearly don't give a crap... The way to fix it is to make it bi-weekly by default like the old system. That'd fix 9 out of 10 of the problems. I know someone who worked for the original company contracted to do the IT system for it and they kept moving the goalposts and cutting cots. They didn't want to spend the extra money required to make those systems work and now they're even replacing the system they've written (Live Service to Full Service as they call it) so that's why it's in the mess it's now. Typical disorganised bollocks from a Gov't.
Nothing wrong with Universal credit, working as anticipated. Punishing the poor, pushing those able to work in to work and penalizing those on in work benifits buy reducing their income and pushing them in to poverty. Sure it will cause many to fall in to poverty and some emotional distress and mental torture but hey we are reducing our deficit

I cant wait to move on to universal credit working 45-50h a week and seeing my tax credits reduced knowing its to make sure work pays and Im doing my bit for the deficit....
If anyone is going through any form of paperwork with the DWP, you must use benefitsandwork.co.uk

Their guides are utterly fantastic and ensure you fill in the form correctly and avoid all the traps the DWP put in your way to a successful application.

Access to the guides isn't free (about £10-£15 a year from memory, though there is a free trial period from memory) but they have stopped many disabled people from losing their mobility aids (e.g. adapted car or scooter) or essential income to survive.

Their monthly newsletter is free and is useful as well.

Let's be honest the conservative govt have no intention of helping the working class they are just fine where they are .Keep wages low with dead end jobs as long as the company owners can increase their profits and reward themselves .It was recently disclosed that the money companies have saved via lower corporation tax which was designed to increase investment has simply gone in the pockets of directors .
Meanwhile the abuse of the tax system by likes of Amazon ,cadburys, coffee sellers etc continues unchecked ...How we love the likes of SIR PHILIP GREEN in the UK .They create jobs .
Rant over.
the boundary commission is going to fix it so it is literally impossible for any party to oust the Tories and people do nothing
