I saw this hammer drill (not the weaker drill driver) on clearance at Argos a few days ago but there seemed to be almost no stock. Just did a quick stock check and all the stores near me have them again so it's worth a post I think.

I have a range of WORX tools which serve me well - upper end amateur stuff (like Ryobi) in my opinion and would also be fine for a professional who doesn't work them too hard.

If you're already into the WORX '20v Max' system (ie have batteries and charger) this bare tool will slot in nicely and note that the batteries and chargers are compatible with 18v system from Guild, Erbauer and others.

  • Variable speed.
  • Max speed: 1800rpm.
  • Forward/reverse function.
  • 13mm keyless chuck.
  • 2 gears.
  • 24 torque settings.
  • Maximum torque 50Nm.
  • Drilling capacity for wood 40mm, steel 13mm and masonry 16mm.
  • Soft grip handle.
  • Double ended screw bit included.
  • Drill weight with battery 1.65kg.

Just a tip, when things get posted on hukd or elsewhere for Argos, a lot of people reserve but never collect, check at midnight the day after things get posted, hey presto, they're back in stock.
(if you knew this already, sorry for mentioning it)

Does it have to be a worx battery to use with this or can you use others?

Guild (Argos) and Erbauer (Screwfix) also fit - maybe others too. This is one of the advantages of WORX.
Ive got loads of Worx tools. Good stuff. Do have to check model number when comparing prices though. Lots of variants.

Argos description states this takes NiCd batteries, anyone know if this is correct or if it takes Li-Ion or both as well?

Typical Argos error. The batteries which fit this are Li-ion.

Yes it does, I have a WORX cordless sds hammer drill I bought as a bare unit and bought 2x Erbauer batteries as they were cheaper. You will still need a charger though.

Because of not having a charger it’s not worth it. Looking for Ryobi deal from Homebase for £99 which was posted earlier with 2 batteries and a case.
not a deal if this comes with NO battery...

It is a deal if you already have the batteries and charger. It’s a BARE unit, all tool manufacturers do this to save you buying a full kit if you need a second or replacementdrill.

For a less than a tenner more you can get a hammer drill that comes with 2 batteries and a charger, that’s why I said it’s not a deal.
A £20k car that comes without an engine, gearbox and tyres, for £10k, is not a deal, hahaha:D

Have you posted it? Where's it from? What make? What spec? £40? Really?

£99 for the last one you posted: hotukdeals.com/dea…243

Yes, I would like to see your £39 drill that comes with batteries too, please post it. As for your comparison to a £20k car. It’s really more realistic to compare it to it not coming with petrol, diesel or engine oil for life. The obvious fact that you really don’t understand how manufacturers offer a ‘one battery fits all tools in a range’ system says to me that you’re best to stay away from them anyway

Jesus dude, let's not be obtuse. Worx have a concept called Powershare which means you can use the same battery with lots of different units from drills, saws, through to strimmers or pressure washers. Bosch have this. Ryobi have this. Makita have this. Every Worx I own is with Powershare compatibility thus this deal is perfect. No need to add a fifth battery to the set.

I agree with all you say, I only said the price is not right for a bare unit. I bought a bosch with 2 batteries plus charger plus case, for £42

I only said £39 for a bare unit is not a deal, everything else, thats your interpretation...
