Wychwood Pumpking Beer - 99p per 500ml Bottle @ ALDI

One of the finest pumpkin beers I've ever had. At 99p a bottle I'll be buying them buy the crate.

Here's the crap from the website:

This spicy, rich, ruby ale is brewed with pumpkin and mace. Hints of toffee and a luscious depth of dried fruit and caramel are perfectly balanced by complex hop flavours

Do you know the alcohol content on these? I saw the offer myself but, unusually, it doesn't state the alcohol content.

It's a lovely beer, but these are only 3.8% instead of the standard - I think - 4.5%. Still, makes it a proper session drink!

Good stuff this, i'll be investing in a few. After the Halloween event the Middlesbrough sold these off for 35p a bottle. Lets hope for more of the same this time round.

It isn't in store until 2nd Oct though

I think I put that in the post mate. Starts in 4 days.

And yes Edmund. It makes a cracking session beer.

Really looking forward to this one.
I love pumpkin ales, either by themselves or containing a shot of spiced rum.

What do you mean "standard"?

Possibly in reference to Hobgoblin, their most well-known beer.

This beer is excellent.

I've tested 24 of these for the benefit of us here at HUKD.
I make no claims of expertise, but imho, this a very palatable brew!!

3.8% is fine for a well brewed beer, Adnams Lighthouse is only 3.4% and it's a cracker. Hobgoblin also a cracker but a little more at 5.2%, and were in Morrisons last year for £8 a case of 8, will be looking for that again.

Thanks Op I'll be heading to Aldi

Always wanted to try pumpkin beer, I will check these out, thanks :-)

You sound desperate. You will have
to quaff something else in the meantime.

I'm slightly confused with these, this is the Wychwood seasonal Oct - PumpKing.

I picked up the Wychwood Hobgoblin "Halloween" label:

This one is slightly darker than the usual Hobgoblin "Blue Label"

Cant find it on their website.

[Edit] Forgot to mention chaps the good thing about the Pumpkin Ale release only means one thing...... BahHumbug is nearly ready!

Wychwood change the labels round this time of year for Hobgoblin. The Pumpking and Hobgoblin are two different beers with Pumpking being the better one in my opinion.

I just said to the Mrs, BahHumbug is the best thing about Christmas and she just gave me a cheeky chuckle. Unfortunately last year I didn't manage to get down to the local to have it on tap. I settled for the bottles instead. If by any chance you haven't tried it on tap before I would highly advise it, the spiced apple seems to be a lot stronger than the bottles but that's me being picky

Where can I pick up Bah Humbug? Thanks

ALDI generally have it around Christmas time fella.

Great, thank you

I think in other supermarkets it's 4.5% and that Aldi has a 'special brew' which is why they can sell it so cheaply. I recall it being 4.5% in previous years amd Google suggests that 4.5% is the usual. Take a look in Asda, Tesco etc... for their versions. Either way, 99p for a Wychwood is a steal

I had one of these last year and really didn't like it. I do only drink lager though and not ale's.

Pumpking! eew

Sorry I hit the cold button by mistake.. Good price for a nice drop off ale

I really love wychwood beers and drink hobgoblin and Goliath all the time in bottles. I really like this pumpking beer as well and was happy to see it on offer again this year in aldi.

I tried the bah humbug last year but have to say its fail as the cinnamon and clove flavours make the beer taste of though it's gone off in the bottle so it's a no no for me.
Aldo are also doing 12 for £14.99 for hob goblin, scarecrow, Goliath and wychcraft which is also a good deal as scarecrow is pretty hard to find now (i think it's brewed under the name of circle master now to be honest).

I still think hob goblin is the best of them all though !!!!

I had some of this from Asda two years ago and I really liked it. When I saw that Aldi were selling it last year I grabbed some but I was really disappointed, it didn't seem to taste as good. Was it me or is the Aldi brew a different recipe? Asda were charging £1-25 two years ago and I'd happily pay the extra, but they didn't have any last year.

Fantastic ! Aldi are opening a store near me on 2nd of October, that's great timing and have sent me a leaflet in the post with four weeks worth of spend £40 get £5 off . I know what I will be spending my vouchers on

I shall be stocking up on this delicious ale

£1.25 at my local Aldi in Dunstable :-(

£1.25? Take a copy of the leaflet in mate and get the manager told.

The offer doesn't start till 2nd October any sold before then will be full price (£1.25) on Thursday when the offer goes live they will scan 99p.

Well my local aldi (stockton on tees) didn't get a delivery to go on sale today. I was told by staff that it should arrive today and be on sale tomorrow.

Just a heads up if you are going to an aldito buy this it may not be in stock yet !!!!
