Prices of Android TV boxes have increased slightly over the recent 6 months, used to be around minimum £25 for a Amlogic S905/X 2GB RAM to approximately £34 now.

BangGood are offering the X96 for £35.51 but with the code 20%HP4TH, you can reduce it to £28.25.

Hurry, as offer lasts until May 1st (due to code expiry).

Don't forget to activate your £2.50 bonus cashback from TopCashback and use their referral to get 6% back.

An alternative to the X96 would be the Z69 for £31.41 (banggood.com/Z69…tml?rmmds=category) without codes, but price will expire May 2nd.

S912, 2GB alternative: H96 Pro Plus, with code £36.35 (reduced from £45.44)

Bonus and cashback from TCB not guaranteed due to use of code.

Personally, I believe buy cheap buy twice. After buying a cheap Android TV box I spent considerably more to buy a stable problem free Zoomtak TV box.

Don't overlook the fact that the octacore S912 is now out.

Disagree totally. Do a bit of research and spend 40 quid on decent box. What's superior about that Zoomtak except of 90 quid less in wallet?
have some heat
Excellent price. Have some heat
I purchased the same from Amazon for £39. Which i would return on receiving this.

Indeed, the S912 can provide a few more thousand points on AnTuTu, but I wouldn't spend any more than £50 for a TV box since they will soon most likely be deprecated for a later SoC and firmware updates are also rare.
For those who are after an Amlogic S912 box, then try the H96 Pro Plus (S912 and 2GB) for £36.35 after code. Updating thread post with this offer as well.

I did the research, cheap box with a reflashed ROM now performs in the spare bedroom and rarely gets used.

BTW its not £90 less in the wallet if you don't waste £30 first on a cheap TV box.

If it's anything like launch, the S912 SOC is buggy and are advised to stay away from.

I guess spending more on a money saving Forum is always frowned upon.

My two Zoomtak S912 TV boxes are lag free, have programmable remotes and have exceeded my expectations.

My initial purchase was an MXQ Pro 4K which often refused to turn off using the remote. Maybe a minor irritation but it bugged the hell out of me.

Not really, people just have a value in mind for a product.

To me, any Amlogic for £90 is stupid money, due to the lack of proper support, shoddy movie playback as refresh rate changing is not supported in most boxes and DRM rights issues, meaning things like Netflix playback is at 720p. Android will always be poor on these devices.

However, an Nvidia Shield for £120 is a bargain for myself as I own a 4k HDR TV, it is also being used as a Freeview HD PVR, this has saved me well over £100 and the need for another chunky device next to it - the box is ridiculously feature rich with hardware specs no company will get close to for years to come.

I'd only consider these devices if I wanted to run LibreElec, but at that point you should just buy the cheapest box you can.

Nvidia Shield TV (2017) review: What's new?
98 x 159 x 26mm; 250g
Smaller than 2015 model
Comes with new Shield Controller and Shield Remote

Those with the previous model don't need to consider an upgrade to this one. Bar a couple of design features and enhanced accessories, the 2015 Shield TV offers the exact same experience as the 2017 edition.
Anyone's shipped?

Order info says shipped on Apr 30, but no tracking is useless as usual, so I'm guessing I'll receive it by May 12.

Yep mines shipped. Never used Banggod, how long until I'll receive my item?
A S905/S905X box running LibreElec will run kodi as well as if not better than an Nvidia Shield for well under a quarter of the cost.

For android the Shield easily wins, for Kodi the S905/S905X with LibreElec is a better choice.

Also the S912's are buggy and not well support, you're best off avoiding.

Also also, the Nexbox A95X (S905X 2GB/16GB) was only £25 multiple times last year, so this isn't as good a deal as the OP makes out.

Indeed, by no means scorching hot deal, but compared to the current prices we're seeing (usually £35-40) over the past 8 months or so, it was a better price.

Usually within 10 business days, i.e. 2 weeks. I normally get mine about 10 (actual, not working) days after shipping.

I haven't received mine yet either, just wait a little longer. It's still well within the shipping estimate, give it at least one more week before worrying.

Received on Monday 15th. I find the launcher to be really dumb. Removing that KDMC (modified copy of Kodi, which you can't even update) just renders whacking big middle KDMC reserved block completely useless and it's not changeable neither. Meaning Kodi will just have to sit in the small row of custom apps.
Really lame, they should be changeable tiles. Really need to change the launcher to make the most of the box.

Hey, just seen your thread today however if you open the OTA app does it update your box because mine comes as an error. Also get Nova Launcher because its much much better!
Original Poster
Yeah I've bought Nova Launcher, but I use it for my smartphone. It's not a really a TV launcher anyway and I use the Android box as a TV box. I've just tested again, that KDMC tile actually does work with the original install of Kodi, I just had to restart the system for it to re-register the shortcut. What was driving me mad, was Showbox that came preinstalled, it kept causing other apps and the whole system to freeze. Removed that junk. Sticking with the stock launcher for now.
