X96 MAX Amlogic S905X2 Android 8.1 4GB DDR4 64GB eMMC 4K TV Box KODI 18.0 with LED Display Dual Band WiFi Bluetooth Gigabit LAN USB3.0, for £48.53, at GeekBuying.

This has arguably the latest Android OS on it (including in-built Casting capabilities'), and the latest/best Amlogic 4K chipset - x2! (yes, the S912 is out there too, but S905, and S905x is wayyyyyy superior), dual band Wi-Fi, a very recent build of KODI, large RAM, AND large internal storage space, and finally a cool onscreen LED display screen on it too. :-)

What's not to like about it?, lol. :-D

Note to self:

To get the above price, you need to select CHINA, and NOT POLAND! (IF Poland is chosen instead then fine, but Poland will cost you an additional £9 to my above stated price), and NOT ITALY either (and IF Italy is rather chosen instead then fine, but Italy will cost you an additional £5 to my above stated price too) - so yeh, the choice is literally yours basically?. :-)

Description:

Runs on Android 8.1

X96 MAX is at the moment one of the first TV Boxes which runs on Android 8.1 an update to Oreo that showcases more ways to express yourself, along with a handful of other features and improvements to stability as well as performance.

Amlogic S905X2

X96 MAX runs Android Oreo on Amlogic S905X2, an upgrade of its S905X2 predecessor with the same quad-core Cortex A53 cores paired with a ARM Dvalin MP2 GPU but adding VP9 hardware decoding, which is the absolute mainstream decoding formats around the global.

DDR4 4GB RAM, eMMC 64GB

It boasts DDR4 4GB RAM, and eMMC 64GB, advantageous in performance, security and reliability, ascribing to the eMMC memory, ultimately delivering a richer end-user experience.

True 4K Media Player

While your average media box might only accept 1080P video playback, this gadget plays just about any 4K sources you could throw at it. Furthermore, it moves out into reality the fantasy of VP9 hardware decoding alongside the H.265.

Access to KODI 18.0 and More

Like any Android-based media players, aside from the preinstalled KODI 18.0, it brings full access to Google Play Store apps like Netflix, Vudu, Skype, Picasa, Flicker, Youtube, Facebook etc.

Why would you get this over the mi box s?

More RAM, and bigger internal storage capacity in my one ...

So arguably a faster Box all round?.

But at the end of the Day, it literally depends on what it is you actually want?. :-)
I bought a H96 Pro+ but was disappointed that it didn't have Android TV os but has the Android phone os. Still works great but menus on Android TV os are nicer on a big telly.

What's the best device for iptv? Is this OK?
How many times does the deal link need specifying?

I've got one of these and whilst the hardware in a step up, the firmware is the usual crap that the Chinese vendors provide, so it will be a while before the custom firmware creators make something better, although the quality of the AMLogic is supposed to be pretty poor right now, so it may be some time before we see anything decent.

And don't even think about Libreelec/Coreelec for a while too as the current AMLogic kernel is a mess of bugs.

Current S905X/S912 boxes do a far better job at the moment.

"Still works great but menus on Android TV os are nicer on a big telly."

How ironic, I've rather heard arguably the opposite ...

As in, I've heard Android TV OS as being the one that's rather the buggy one (over that of say normal Android OS), etc?.

But fair enough?. :-)

Probably you can install Android TV but do the homework involved (open and check your box specs, installation process etc). Personally i prefer the normal android version (superceleron rom). Check this if you want forum.freaktab.com/for…ion

Amazon Firestick at £25 will work
ergh....what is it? what does it do? for the uneducated there is no explanation of what this might do for me. Does it do anything that an old £2 computer cannot?

Its all about personal opinions init? I don't do much with mine other than use Perfect Player and Plex so the ease of use with the menus is what matters to me. I'm happy enough with my setup otherwise.

My H96 Pro+ hasn't let me down since I've had it couple years I have it seated under a fan cooler it can get very warm..Beelink GT1 Ultimate is a good box but let down by the Youtube app anytime you try 1080p or higher it can play up something rotten...all Mecool boxes beware they say Android TV OS it ain't real it's a look a like launcher so some features won't work...Tanix boxes I've tested have not given me any problems..Minx boxes are pretty good but not cheap...

No problem, thanx.
Apart from @PYLK , has anyone else tried the X96 MAX Amlogic S905X2 Android Box?. :-)
I have this one. It works perfect, the only issue is, you can't watch to netflix HD only 540p.
Does it come with decent remote? Or can you pair it with 3rd party remote? What remote would be best for it? I like my fire stick remote

Never said i had this one... am using the H96 Pro + with the superceleron ROM and works great for more than a year now.... No need to change...This seems a very capable box nevertheless... and for 46 pounds something at Gearbeast, i suggest you put that link on the top as it 6 pounds cheaper to the one you posted...

Mine was overheating with the stock ROM but not at all with the superceleron one. I just opened a few holes for better ventilation on the box. It is also much faster and efficient.

I guess you can sideload Netflix HD ...check something like this
Edited by: "PYLK" 15th Dec 2018
I have this for about month I bought it in presale for £35 - 2/16 version. You can't install Netflix from playstore same for many other apps. Picture on YouTube randomly freeze, remote is not working correctly in some apps, so firmware is crap.
I'm selling my nexbox a95x with s905x processor, 1gb ram, 8gb storage for £22 delivered, perfect for libreelelec, or standard android/kodi. PM me if interested.

The remote control it's more likely to come with will be more mars bar/stick like ...

But that doesn't therefore stop/prevent you from 'improvising' in any way?.

An air mouse (via it's supplied 'adapter'), can easily be used for this, etc, such as the one's to be found here:

google.co.uk/sea…r=3

I chop and change between using an air mouse on my android boxes, and using the actual remote it came supplied with, etc ...
Tje choice is literally yours?. :-)
